Stripping sound

I have had my mini e revo for about 2 weeks and there is a sound like the gears are being stripped. I have checked the spur gear and there is not stripped teeth. I have tried opening the main gear inside but it is attached to the driveshaft underneath the e revo and I can't figure out how to take it apart. Help is appreciated!

it is probably your diffs. Kind of a pain unless you enjoy that kind of stuff like me. It does help you learn about how the car works and allows you to more easily diagnose and solve your rc problems. I would recommend that you refer to squirrelod's videos that he has on the mini revo. He is very thorough and knowledgeable.

How would I know if it is the diffs that are causing the problem?

If the sound is being produced upon acceleration or deceleration, it is probably the differentials.
If you go to the product page of your RC, and then to the download section, you will find exploded views that are helpful in finding out how to work on your RC.

The sound is from acceleration. Braking is fine.

Then its the rear diff

Mine is making a stripping sound but they aren't slipping. I shimed the diff and confirmed it wasn't slipping. Spinning by hand it would make the same sound and I could see the gears. I cleaned the groves of the gears and the sound went away. I think I got junk in the diff.

The sound is from acceleration. Braking is fine.

It is time to print the exploded views, grab some tools, a couple of baggies, a marker, and some patience.
Pull the rear differential apart to inspect before you order parts!
I suggest pulling the front apart too...

Pull it apart, using the baggies and marker to indicate where parts go and the exploded views to confirm.
