I just finished the messy job of dying my grey chassis parts black and I thought to myself... "Wouldn't it just be easier if they came colored black?" I know they did in the old days. Come on Traxxas, let's go Back in Black!
What do you guys think?![]()

"He who rushes one, is rushed himself"
+5 im in i would like to have the option to or they could make different color chassies for people that want to do theme rides. like red blue green stuff like that traxxas already has the plastic colors because we see it in the grave digger models. and tie rods
+6
love to have a black summit chassis
summit /mustang /stampede-2s spc lipo
+7 that would be awesome!!!
I think they should have it maybe as an option part or even just make like limited edition models they'd prolly sell quite a few colored ones
+8
That would be killer.
Sting like a butterfly and punch like a flea, jack
Isn't dying parts fun though??? Plus you have the option to dye them Scarlet Red or Green or blue or rainbow!!!!! LOL![]()
Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.
I second that Digger. Going green hopefully next week. The art's and craft store was out of forest green.

Digger: that's when you choose my idea of the option to get a gray chassis them you can make the rainbow..![]()

Black would be cool, but isn't the grey cheaper to produce since they don't have to add dye to the mix?
if you made it an option and charge say $5 for the different colors it would offset the cost of the dye and than you can choose to dye it or have it pre dyed to your color of choosing.
^^yea if your going to order straight from the producer if not that makes for a lot of stock for each company to keep up with
Well depending on what chassis/parts you dyed black, You can still get the Stampede (even more so with the GD release) and Rustler chassis/parts in black. And also the Slash/Raptor.
I don't mind the gray stuff, like Digger said, The dying process is fun if need be, plus gives you a great excuse to tear down, clean, and pull maintenance on your rig.![]()
My previous sig conflicted with a forum policy.
+9 nine or what ever number I am. Black looks SO much better than grey.
PS: I like aluminum chassis.
SPC Power - the best there is
Ok how about all models come with black plastic, and traxxas sells optional white parts (not grey) specifically designed for dying, kinda like the RPM parts? I think that would be sick. I'd go black with bright orange accents!

+10 on return of black part option
Im in for black. I dont dye my chassis because I really dont care that much but if I had a preference it would certainly be black... I would never use colored plastic... but thats just personal preference. I can definitely see people wanting to buy bright red/blue/green chassis and other parts for their rides. But if we had to pick ONE color it should definitely be black.

ERBE, Rally,
Motley Crew, 1SQ
Yes the black plastic parts do look better...at first, but becomes weathered looking and becomes quite tedious to clean if you want to keep it looking good. The grey plastic doesn't show the white film that tends to develop on the black, therefore making the grey easier to clean and looking good. Im not really into dying plastic parts, so a choice of color would for sure be nice, but i don't think its an option that i would pay extra for. I would much rather see more Traxxas aluminum parts (black and polished silver) available than to see optional plastic colors.

Never trust an "Atom", they make up everything.
i think they should habe matching chassis to the body color, like for the green summit have a green chassis, for the orange 1/10th rally, a orange chassy; and so on
kawasaki summit, revo& slash; regular rusty, pede
+74 i would like traxxas to go back to black but if they do someone else will still want to change it some how or some way its human nature
Most, maybe all I am not sure of the parts are still available in black. I know at my LHS every Rustler chassis, upper deck just about all Rustler parts I can think of they get in black only. Slash chassis they get in both black and grey. Talking with my son who works at the LHS he says just about everything he can think of off the top of his head is available in both colors. Typically the grey part with have an "a" on the end of the part # the black version will not have the "a" .

I prefer grey! Why? These are my reasons:
1) It's fun to dye the parts black.
2) You get to know your truck when you disassemble it and then put it back together.
And, the most importan reason:
3) When you dye a grey part black, you're basically boiling it for about 15 minutes, that makes the plastic (nylon) more flexible and resistant to impac and won't break that easily.
I usually recommend boiling the a-arms for about 15 minutes and that makes wonders.
He who dies with the most toys wins !!!
plus 1 for danielhr77, and also for keeping the price down by leaving it the way it is....i like dying my stuff
1/10 Rally, HPI Block, 1sq helimax

+9834726854326789 Black would look amazing! Especially for the people like me that like to totally go "gansta" and black out every part on the vehicle!
SUMMIT |MERV * FIVE-T * REVO-E| T- MAXX-E
Loose the grey black is better
+9834726854326790 I agree back in black!![]()
I like grey because you can make it any color plus working on and cleaning your rc is fun

+3.14! I love the black chassis! All of mine were the originals, just restored to the vx spec stuff. XL 1 gen stampede, rustler, and the black raptor slash chassis.
Considering all my chassis eventually end up black... This is fitting! lol

Yes the gray chassis is hideous! Why a gray chassis and black everything else. When the gray gets dirt on it it ends up staining it an looks even more ugly! Go back to black!!!

another vote for black chassississ in rtr
and sell white chassis (chassis only) for people who want to dye them
I dont know why grey even came up? Not quite hideous but very unattractive.
Aside from that, grey is not the ideal dyeing color. Suppose you want a light color (lets say neon green [ ala Grave Digger] or pink - there are female Traxxas drivers) you cant use grey cause it is too dark to dye properly with lighter colors.
