Moderators having to say goodbye to Twinkies

As some of the old timers may remember, the moderator food of choice was the 8th wonder of the world,,, "The Twinkie". Due to financial reasons Hostess, the makers of this wonderfully sweet tooth craving delight is going out of business.. Even though for a long time I have fought hard to change the favorite food from Twinkies to Gummy Bears I had failed to the relentless addiction of the twinkie to my fellow moderators, even before I was a moderator...

This is not how I wanted it to happen... So for all you Hostess fans out there,,,, Twinkies, Drakes Cakes, Ho Ho's and other delights will no longer be made as "Hostess" has closed their doors....

A sad day for Traxxas moderators.... My favorite was to insert Gummy bears into my twinkies and have a nice long cool glass of Lime Koolaid......

Well, at least we still have Gummy bears.....

Okay, Hostess was bad enough, but I didn't realize Drakes was owned by them too! (And I can almost SEE Wayne, NJ from here!)

From what I am hearing that may yet happen with most if not all the icon Hostess products. Time will tell.

Hostess will be a huge loss for sure. I've been eating them since like forever. On my way home from work I think i'll stock up on them if there are any left at the local Walmart. I love 'Twinkies' & 'Ho Ho's' and the wifee likes 'Ding Dongs' & 'Cup Cakes'. We tend to share, but you know how that goes with a house filled with a "sweet tooth".

Hostess Brands will sell its popular brands, including Hostess®, Drakes® and Dolly Madison®, which make iconic cake products such as Twinkies®, CupCakes, Ding Dongs®, Ho Ho’s®, Sno Balls® and Donettes®. Bread brands to be sold include Wonder®, Nature’s Pride ®, Merita®, Home Pride®, Butternut®, and Beefsteak®, among others.
Sounds like they are going to try and liquidate the company to the highest bidder. Just hope the sweet goodness stays the same and in the good ole U.S. of A.

Sounds like a no-win situation for many. Union held out, the company said they would have to close, well they were not able to keep up with production and now thousands are out of their jobs.
Someone will end up buying the name and recipes and probably bring it back. A big money maker there.

We got a wonder bread hostess discount store here about 10miles away and i wondered why they were low on stock now i know. I have to give them a call and see if they are closing if so i better go get some stuff before they do if they have anything left. We get about 8 loaves of bread there for about 1.50 each or 4-$5 the natures pride. now we are going to need to figure out where we are going to buy bread maybe costco

Hostess made some very bad mgt decisions over the last decade. They went through bankruptcy many times. They could not return to profitability for many reasons. Theier products will be missed but I don't blame the work force at all, just mgt!

I can get over losing Hostess products but what really scares me is a news report I heard yesterday that predicted coffee bean plants could become extinct in 10 years.

^^^^^^^^^^NOOOOOOOOOOO!^^^^^^^^^^^^^ now back to the topic. There is a company that bought out the hostess company. They are saying they will still produce the same product's that are currently made. So the Tqinkie's and HoHo
    s will still last forever.

Sounds like the twinkie may be around to give zombie apocalypse survivors the motivation to go on for years to come. I was never a huge fan of the twinkie itself... but man, could I plow back those cupcakes... they were not safe in our home. If the box was open, they were gonna get systematically devoured until non remained. On more than one occasion I opened a fresh box and put that box in the garbage on the same day. Not good... but SOOOO good.

Time to start stocking up on coffee. I would pick up like 3 bags every 2 months to stock up on. coffee in the freezer doesnt go bad, i've had some coffee from Germany in there for 2 yrs now and its still good just opened it last month.

Sad. If Hostess can't make it, we're screwed. The recipie for Hostess cupcakes are: Primordial ooze, some sort of brown goo for frosting, powdered water, and box cake. Not that I don't like them but nothing natural is in them.
And there he goes with the carbon...

NEW YORK -- The future of Twinkies is virtually assured.

Hostess Brands Inc. said Thursday that it's in talks with 110 potential buyers for its iconic brands, which also include CupCakes, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos. The suitors now include at least five national retailers such as supermarkets, a financial adviser for the company said in bankruptcy court. The process has been "so fast and furious" Hostess hasn't been able to make the calls seeking buyers it previously intended, said Joshua Scherer of Perella Weinberg Partners.

"Not only are these buyers serious, but they are expecting to spend substantial sums," he said.

Looks like the Twinkie is gonna pull through! Lol
