Rally Chassis to Slash 4X4 LCG Conversion

Hello all,
I finally got all of my parts in for my Slash 4X4 LCG conversion. I bit the bullet & bought a roller off eBay for $220, then got the Platinum upgrades for about $130, I had the electronics already, as I like to keep spares (no down time), & also picked up RPM upgraded parts. Also, note the RIT Dye!

I'll be hanging it all together ASAP!!!

Well, I stayed up a few hours later than normal, got it all together, minus the Big Bores, looks kinda cool!

I'll post more pics when I get the shocks installed, and the wheels mounted. I already tuned all 3 diffs, and made the adjustments according to Slayden. I can't wait to run it!

I hadn't checked the mail yet, the Big bores came in, & are on! Using 50WT oil front & 45WT rear, stock Slash 2WD F springs, T-Maxx progressive rears. Fronts 95mm, rears 110mm. Lots of wheel travel.

I sat it next to another Slash 4X4 I built with essentially the same setup to compare ride height, what a difference! Hopefully track time soon! Going to Austin,TX for the Formula 1 race this weekend!!!

thats sure looks nice aburg2. I have been eyeing the rally's chassis as well. im sure you could answer question. Would that chassis bolt on to my slash 4x4? thanks for all the photos and details of you work.

Thanks! If I understand correctly, you want to convert a Slash 4X4 to the LCG chassis of the Rally, correct? No, it is not a direct bolt on replacement. The rally chassis uses different bulkheads, motor plate & gear cover, front & rear bumpers, and body mounts. There is a complete liisting of parts needed here:

I used a complete Rally roller, and added the Slash 4X4 parts, including Ultimate, and RPM parts.

Hey All!!! I just finished my 2nd LCG conversion, this one's for the dirt. Gonna get it dirty tomorrow!!! I transferred all of the parts from my other car onto another roller, including the telemetry pieces. I didn't dye this chassis because I wanted to get it together asap so I could run it!

Do you have any video of the trucks running? Is there a noticeable difference in their performance? I have been hinkint of doing the swap to my Ultimate, is it worth it?

I just finished building one too and their is a huge difference in handling, on pavement mine hasnt flipped once so far!!!!!

No video yet, hopefully some track time this week, but from what its done on pavement, it handles great! I'm using the same setup from Slayden, and it hasn't rolled over once! With the diff tuning, it explodes out of turns! I would HIGHLY suggest you convert one! you won't regret it!

Hello all! I got my GTR shocks the other day, installed them last night, tried them out today on my makeshift "test" track. I have an area next to my house that's 20' X 40' with a few jumps, ruts & burms.

I picked up 2 sets, 1 I left stock with 30WT oil, the other I converted to the 5460A blue anodized housings, with the stock pistons, 50WT in the front, 40WT in the rear. The housings are a few mm shorter in the rear, which shortens wheel travel downward a little. I ran 2 5000mAh lipo pack through it, the 1st time with stock BFG's, the 2nd with Pro Line Trenchers. The dirt was still wet from the past week's rain.

I REALLY like these shocks! It landed very smoothly, nice rebound, a little stiff on the ruts, but I like a firm suspension. It should work great on an indoor smooth track!

There was a lot of bottoming out on the jumps, but after a ride height adjustment, it landed better.

I got about 17 minutes run time with lots of full throttle action on jumps and great air time!!!

Now, time for a new power system. I'm looking at a CC MMP 2400 system, or a 2650 motor. I guess I'll have to move up to a 3S LiPo. Any thoughts or suggestions? What about just upgrading the ESC? Does anyone know of the differences between the MMP & MMP SCT ESC's? I'll probably be shopping after the 1st of the year

Couldn't wait until the 1st, got a good deal on the MMP 2400 system. Also saw on the 1/10 Rally thread that the Kings Headz MM is available, ordered one of those too! Good times on the horizon!!!

Cool! I've read up on that combo, & understand it's the same. I wonder why they advertise it as a 2800kv motor? I paid $180 shipped for my setup. If I decide to get another, I'll go your route! What batteries are you using?

I use a four cell lipo in my mmp and it goes over 60 i would highly recommend mip axles

Wow! I'm not looking to go THAT fast! I'm looking to stay low to mid 40's, & only want to use 3S. What gearing are you using? Any suggestions?

Hello all, I finally got my CC MMP 2400 combo & Kings Headz motor mount in and installed. I used an STRC aluminum ESC mount with industrial strength Velcro to hold the ESC down. I also got a couple of SPC 3s LiPos in the 2S case, no need for a battery extender, & saves weight! I tried it out for the first time today, what punch! I'm running 14/54 so temp isn't an issue, may bump it to 15 or 16/54. I like this combo so much, I ordered another one! Happy racing, bashing, whatever you do!
