Thanks craig. Guess you seen the sway bar will work with the rockers!
I did it just to be on the safe side

How exactly do shocks/push rods attach to those rockers? Do you use stock screws/ball links?
Bah, those things look cool as ****, and I've already ordered a set anyway, but I can't get over how unforgiving impact physics will be to them.. :P
Yep. All stock screws and ball links
And where I need to grind
![]()
Did a little grinding . Not too hard on the bits other then the aluminum oxide bit clogging up a bit
Hey dave, what bits are you using for that? That looks like some serious work on a dremel! Mine is starting to show signs of going out just doing the stock plastic ones. How hot does the aluminum get when your grinding on it? any lubricant like wd-40 needed? I may do that sometime in the distant future if I kill plastic ones with ease.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
If this proves to be good I figure I might do both the front and back on mine. I have found out my son is a hard basher on his summit. He bent 3 of his push rods and he broke off the front skid plate dont know where it whent and he busted the front bulkheads on both sides. I think he may have messed up the front differential as well. But I am still building pinewood derby cars over here.
If its not breaken then your not racing.
I use one high speed cutter and one aluminum oxide. Tonight was just playing around with it. Was getting warm but most cuts are only fine grinding and taking my time so no lubricants yet. Looks to be easy just a few spots that need work. Seems easier to see with aluminum what needs to be done
Take it easy davis
Now what depth do you have to go on those? That's a lot of grinding my kinda work I sit for hrs doing that but dremel won't allow that gets too hot.

Center part very little but now if the whole bulkhead bends is it really worth it
From what I recall, I think others had tried but went back to stock...I thought you may of had better luck.
Rock n Rolla !
Spent a couple hours looking to make a good front chassis brace. No room for anything real strong
On my merv with the aluminum bulkhead never had a problem. Don't know which way to go
I guess I will try the integy and I have an idea for the chassis brace. Now just looking at more down time!
I would give that Integy bulk a try and see how you go...maybe it will last. If all fails you could go back to the stock ones.
Rock n Rolla !
That would mean!!!! " In the back ground the song "Another one bites the Dust" starts playing." And we sing" $100 bit the dust. Yeah $100 bit the dust." Corney I know.Awww man I hope this works.
If its not breaken then your not racing.
I hear that! Now can't get queen out of my head! Thanks
The front brace I made is pretty strong, its removed any flex from the Front. Does require a little cutting of a pushrod though.
take a look see if it gives you any idea's
http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...nterpretation)
Does the front side need a brace at all?
I remember seeing that a while back. Good job! Thinking of doing some kind of combo using upper and lower braces. Thanks
If I am going to use the integy with the few that have used it and bent theirs yes it needs some help up front
this is one idea for a front brace. i threaded one end and fits right under the shock mount .i will take up the extra space with washers![]()
still need to clearance the front a little to clear the shocks
with this i can still put a rod along the top too

that brace looks stronger than a rod modded to fit there! looks nice on there and looks to fit nicely.

I had used all my stainless steel and hit a few hardware stores looking for something. Want sure it would fit but should be pretty strong
a little off topic, but 50 how did you get those shock boots so even and smooth. Either this guy sent me the wrong length or they are made to be trimmed. I installed them on my summit and its a mess lol.

I usually trim mine. They are made to be trimmed with no fraying. Leave about 1/2" on each side
Are they the ones that kalisch sells on ebay?
The kinda look like a different material now that i look at mine up close.

No mine are badhorsie http://www.badhorsie.com/products/shock-covers.html

ahh ok, yeah i wasn't gonna pay $40 for shipping from them... Criminal to Canada. No way was i gonna pay that.
Im gonna try to trim mine down. They are a lycra material.

Shipping is crazy. Only ten bucks shipped. Very light what a rip
he claims $40 shipping minimum on any order to Canada is the only way to ship it insured and tracked. (lies) but w/e im not gonna try and argue with him. Some people are just nuts. lol
I redid one of my summit shocks just now and yeah i can trim mine down too, cleans em up nice.

Had a look into those as well , the 40$ fee is a rip-off , maybe he uses ups or fedex instead of usps ..
Doesn't matter, at that weight, if i paid him $40 i want them at my door at 9am the next day.
But enough of this bad horsie bashing, now back to your regularly scheduled awesome build thread.

So with my money pit I am thinking that roll cage. No brace & plastic bulkhead just trying to get this truck tough because money will be tight for a while
Did you junk the aluminum bulkhead???
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
It was almost ready to go in but it will be too heavy as is. I did that with my t maxx big block and lots of aluminum to make it stronger and it was slower then my small block
For all of you who never had or seen merv parts check out how small the bulkhead is!

I tried the roll cage before...I didn't like it so took it off and sold it. If like me you are forever tuning your truck, changing gearing, working on shocks etc you are going to find the cage a pain in the butt....unless you have really small hands unlike me.
RC Solutions Roll cage.

Rock n Rolla !
I never liked roll cages but if the front bulkhead lasts longer its something to consider
I have it all together finally and took it out front. Didn't charge my batteries they are at storage charge but still ripped pretty good!
