Have a chance to buy a new motor and ESC

I have found a new Mamba Monster with a 2650 motor. It says the controller is a V3. It also has dual battery connectors, I am assuming I can swap it to single battery connection.

I have an Ultimate 4x4 running 7cell right now. If I get this I will start with 2s then probably 3s down the road a ways.

Does that setup seem like it should work?

    Thanks,
    Justin

It should work well! I don't think I'd worry about the connector at first. If its a good deal, jump on it!

2s would be a waste of time with that motor. Start with 3s and go from there.

Also be aware if you run a 2650 you'll undoubtedly need to upgrade your driveshafts. It's a fun motor!

I ran 2s on this combo geared tall and had no problems. I found the 2650 to be a good setup just for this purpose. You can gear it really tall and run on 2s for tight tracks keeping the speed down to 30-35mph then if you want to speed it up just volt up. Personally I run 2s and 3s, have tried 4s but its a bit much and cant imagine going any higher as you wouldnt have enough radio range to get it to top speed. I barely maxed out the 4s.

The daul battery connection may come in handy but its all dependant on if its a serial connection or parallel. If its serial you cant run with a single battery unless you jumper out the second connector. That can be done easily with a female connector and a jumper wire or if you never plan on running more than one pack at a time, I know I dont, just change it out to a single.

The 2650 is 6s capable. It is rated at 4s but will handle 6s power. I run 6s on it all the time with no problems what so ever.

The 2200 is happy at 6s. If you want to run 4s get the 2650, or the 2400. My 2200 in my maxx is a dog on 4s. I can hear it yelling at me because it wants more voltage.

I run the mmp/2400 in my slash on 4s and it loves it. Temps went up on 2s

The 2650 will not last on 6s. It doesn't have a big enough can.

Without a doubt the 2650/MMM set up is one of the best for slash 4x4, 22/50 gearing is extremmly fast. motor temp around 150-160 max
Its runs best on 2s or 3s , will run 4s no problem.

My 2650 has been going strong on 6s for quite a while now and I have friends that have run it going on 2 years now with no problems. Although I will say 6s is too much for just bashing, I only use it for running up and down the street.

Then you'd better listen and give that motor what it wants...

I have the motor and ESC now. I just need to find some 5mm pinions and LiPo batteries. I picked up the Stampede radio box to move things around.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I got everything mount for a test run. So it is a Mamba Monster, 2650Kv, 3S LiPo and20/54 gearing.
All I can say is Holy Cow Batman!! Half throttle and roll on it a little fast and the front wheels still lift!!
Going to try a little more setup with the software to see if I can smooth out the acceleration a little.

Here it is ready for a test run, everything works so I need to get it zip tied and buttoned up. Not sure where the light controller is going to hide but I will figure it out.

I wonder if you should get an upgraded motor mount for that new motor, and its gobs of torque.

That looks like a sweet setup. I'm jelly!
