Ok so, out with the summit today. wintery greatness!! ..... and smoke... still runs.. but smoke... first question is, is it done??? second is what's the next step? is there a better motor, brushed, brushless that can be used without too many mods? and with that motor what are the best heat sink mods? I appreciate the help

when you add that kind of rotational weight you will want to gear down at least a tooth or two. i made a set of chains and I was already geared down a tooth and it still put quite a strain on the motor spinning the chains in addition to all the snow that got packed in the chassis/wheels. motor got pretty hot pretty quickly in high gear. when i was done with the chains i pulled them all off and put all 4 of them in my hand and i was quite surprised at just how heavy they are.

Go Dewalt 14.4v... they are an inexpensive motor to buy and a really easy fit in the Summit will very lil modding required. I will sent you a link to my swap I did. I am running twin 2s lipo's on it. Oh and the joy of the Dewalt is that it has replaceable brushess and runs very cool.

+1 on the Dewalt, most bang for the $$ that retains water/snow proofness
