    Kdvanbs 4x4 carpet racer build

    Okay...
I really want to make my slash 4x4 a racing truck.
I went to the indoor carpet track earlier today and the was a slash 4x4 Baja bug and it was super fast.
I want to make a really fast truck that is controllable but has power on 2s lipo.
The hobby shop I race at is called hotrod hobbies if you want to get an idea of the track.

I made a thread like this about a month ago but it never got going...

Currently have a onyx 25c 2s lipo pack.
My only other upgrades are aluminum bearing adapter and rpm arms in the front.

Honestly I just need to get it dialed in.
I have to brushless setups in my sig below but I don't think they would be the best.
I'm looking at the tekin motors but don't know where I should start with them. Do the 4000kv motor get hot on 2s?

Your MMP and a Novak 5.5 or 4.5 would work great for you!

That's a small tight track with few big jumps. Your VXL is fine but you may want to lower to a 10 or 11T pinion. You have zero need for top end on that track. Traction will then be your next challenge. Obviously get some carpet appropriate tires then play with the slipper settings OR try the center diff. I've heard some chatter about the diff being better for racing and tight tracks. Getting out of corners fast and a power boost before a jump will give you faster lap times.

It is smooth as butter but rough on the wallet! You could get another Slash for the price lol.. BUT think of it is getting a Benz over a honda lol

more like shoving a honda away and buying your new mercedes

    im not sure what motor.
    sc4x 5.5t 4000kv?
i also want it to fit without modding. maybe the pro4 3300kv?

i need torque at the moment..i put my velineon in my 2wd for the weekend so i could use all my batterys at the track since my castle is an amp hog. it barely cleared the jumps. and there was one jump where i barely made it and every time my 2wd cartwheeled at the end. but thats my 2wd

the only reason i didnt race my 4x4 is because it was broken at that time.

there was a real nice 4x4 baja bug slash that was so fast around the corners. i didnt see what he was running

i use a jr servo that is for 1/8th scale buggys. i picked up a strc steering horn also because the splines are different. works great and is a good price. and i can tell you castle systems are great, and ive only had expierence with tekins 1900kv motor in a buggy, and it was a great system for racing, not so much for bashing. and i cant help you with tires, i only race on dirt because thats the only thing in my area haha

What tires do the fast guys at the track run? The carpet track in my area only allows slicks because they don't want the treads to tear into the carpet.

I've also seen guys turn their tires on a lathe to make them slicks. But if you can find spike tires, those will grab carpet best.

I still have to clean up the wiring a bit
    Really like the 2400
It's nice, temps are always down
Although its not that fast really

    LOL
Currently it's in need of a spur gear
    Luckily I think I have a spare

    I actually have 4 trucks
    A 2wd slash
    A 4x4 slash
    Pede
    And a rustler

So really I only bought about half of the stuff
    But thanks
This truck handles so much better

If you want to do the shocks on a budget just change the oil, springs, and shock caps. I am always growing so most years for birthday or christmas I get ski equipment, not stuff for my truck

    Yeah I might do that
I'm not in a rush really
I'm happy with the truck at the moment
I think I'll try and dial it in and play with things slowly

    Skiing is pretty cool
Growing? I've done a lot of that in the past year
    Last year I was 5"5 I'm now 6"1
Luckily I'm only involved in Soccer basketball and Track&Field events
So I only need to get bigger shoes

I go through plenty of shoes, as I run 5+ miles everyday due to cross country. How is the 2400 compared to the vxl in speed and acceleration? I'm already running the et3s esc so I just have to plug it in.

    The accelaration is much better
    Don't know about speed
    I've never ran a vxl on 3s
But I can still gear it up a bit I think

Programmed it with Castle link for the first time
    Here are my settings

    Cutoff voltage: Auto lipo
    Auto-lipo volts/cell: 3.2volts/cell
    Reverse type: with reverse
    Motor direction: Reverse
    Power-on warning beep: beep enabled
    Brake amount: 50%
    Drag brake: 0%
    Full reverse: 1.024ms
    Neutral: 1.530ms
    Full forward: 2.018 ms

    Max forward power: 100%
    Max reverse power: 50%
    Punch control: 0%
    Torque Control Value: 0
Torque control electrical motor kv: not determined

BEC voltage: 5.5V (don't need BEC anyways; have the external one)
    Arming time: 1.5s
    Throttle dead band: Average (0.1000ms)
    Start power: medium
Sensor less motor timing: High (15)
    Motor type: Smart sense brushless

I didn't change throttle or brake curve as I don't know how setting it differently changes the performance
If anyone could explain or show how they have it set would be much appreciated

    Also programmed my BEC
    Output voltage: 5.9v

    Weird problem?!?!
I was out running last night and it was like something was stopping the truck
As soon as I let off the throttle it would lock up

Could this be from my 56t spur?
