I apologize if this is a redundant question:
however, can someone tell me if you need to unlock the esc if I want to use it with a different radio system or did I get got by a seller on ebay?

I am pretty sure you have to unlock the ESC with a Traxxas TQi radio and apple device and then you can disable Castle Link live in order to use it with another radio. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
