    17MM Rims and Tires

I really want to switch to 17mm hex for my Stampede 4x4. I keep blowing out rims and I am done with it. For anyone who has switched to 17mm what rims are you running, and what offset? I have heard of others stretching tires to fit the larger rims to keep the diameter the same, I am interested, just not sure what I need.

I am running MIP's, 3s Lipo, a tight slipper clutch and Trenchers. I am geared down so this thing has tons of low end grunt and spins the aluminum hexes in the rims with the nuts tight and locktighted.

Yeah, I could loosen the slipper but that isn't as much fun and I would be constantly replacing clutches. Better then rims I guess....

I use RPM Revolver stablemaxx offset rims (3.2") and 2.8" tires or the stock E savage tires are a direct fit to the 3.2 rims and are under 5.5" tall with ofna foams...

Yes those are Imex baja's, no cutting necessary. They are slightly larger at the bead than most 2.8's so they stretch easily onto the 3.2" rims. Too bad you can't get them anymore, I guess Imex is out of rc...

I'm in the same boat, my alum hex has rolled edges from stripping a desparado rim. I'm done with 12mm, just to weak for a mmp2400 on 4s with trenchers. Any other rims that are known to work anyone? Sure wish I bought a roller and built it up

Pro-Line Maxx Masher 2000 Monster Truck Tires (2)
    [PRO1075-00] 5.55 High 3.40 Wide

RPM "Revolver" Monster Truck Wheels (17mm Hex) (StableMaxx) (Black)
[RPM82302] 3.2 Fits standard MT tires.

After searching, that's all I could find. Will only be used for trail and hill climbing, if there even a compatible combo. Any thoughts on this set-up.

Those tires are too wide, I wouldn't go that route. HPI Aggressors are another good tire option that will fit 3.2" rims...

Thedreadedend, thanks for chiming in. I like the pic's. If I'm not mistaken I see your XO-1 experiment. Disappointed they didn't hold up. I hate to see people spend $ on parts, only to be disappointed when they fail. Thanks for all that you contribute to this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

I still use them (rebuilt) on my racing sl4sh. They work just fine for that purpose. Just not with the bigger wheels

So has anyone put 2.8 trenchers on the rpm revolver stablemax rims 3.2's? Is it tricky to get the tires to roll true if you don't have the rim lip line on the tire? Please explain if you don't mind please. My trenchers are almost new but rim hexes are all rounded out

I cut my trenchers at the bead line. That's how I get them to be the same size as a 2.8 rim/tire combo. Ya, a bit tricky to get them true but worth it to me. Look ip my threads, I did a how to on this exact tire/wheel combo. Also BaldyDanials did a how to with rpm stable maxx 3.2.
