So I recently bought a new lipo battery for my slash 1/16 scale truck and unknowingly bought the traxxas 11.1 volt battery instead of the 7.2 volt battery. When I went to use my truck, the speed control started pouring white smoke. So I sent the speed control to traxxas for a replacement (under warranty) but I also realized that they will just replace it with the same one that doesn't work with the 11.1 volt lipo. Which speed control do I need to work with the battery and will the stock motor be fine?

Do you have a brushless or brushed motor?
if it's the vxl it can handle a 3s if geared properly for a few speed runs at a time

The motor is the Titan 12-turn 550 brushless but what speed control do I need that can handle the new battery?

Make sure that your using a parallel connector and not a series connected, by the way.

A Titan 12T 550 brushless motor does not exist as far as I know. If you are talking about this one, it doesn't handle the voltage of a 3S Lipo. 2S would be the max.
