Ground up build. What castle big block?

Hey guys,

Its been a while since ive posted anything but am back for another round. I ordered today:

1/16 Grave Digger roller
black rit dye
parts to make it 4x4
summit shafts
alum turnbuckles and pushrods
2.2 mesh rims
2.2 dirthawgs
traxxas wheelie bar
flysky gt3b tx/rx
ford raptor body

I now need to decide what powerplant to pick up. I want a 1/10th scale Castle setup. I plan to bash mostly but sometimes toss in a speed run or two. I dont plan on running any crazy voltage, mainly a couple SPC 2s lipos in parallel. I think Ill go with the sidewinder and was leaning toward the 4600 or 5700kv option. Gearing advice would help me out too. Anyone out there with a bigblock merv that can throw some advice my way?

BTW, as soon as the parts start to arrive I will post up all the progress pics. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you plan to bash and care about handling you should check out a neu 1110 1/y
One of the best small blocks around with big block power! The 4550kv motor is good for 2 or 3 cell action
runs cool and makes great power! Do you really want a high center of gravity bb!

Or 1110 1.5d 5600kv for 2 cell max

I did some searching but the neu motors i found were expensive. I dont know if i can justify spending double the money for a 50g weight reduction. Know anywhere to get them at a good price?

most motors are damaged at 200 degrees and neu's magnets can handle 300+

Thats pretty impressive. Does that mount on the stock brushless mount or the 550 brushed mount? What kind of gearing do you bash with. Any issues with temp?

Stock sb mount I run 29/45 to bash up to 37/45 for speed runs. No heat issues at all! On the dirt I detune. Otherwise has way too much power can run 2s pack after pack with no heat issues

I run the 5700kv castle on parallel 3s. My gears aren't that insane i'm only using 31/50. You will need a 550 motor mount or a Tenbol. I went with the tenbol but unfortunately you can't put a gear cover on. I did go with the mamba max pro instead of the sidewinder though. It's crazy fast on speed runs which is about all i use it for!

i went with the digger roller because it came with the 550 mount. if i go with a castle motor do you think the 5700 would be more versatile running 2s than the 4600?

You will have more top end running the 5700 on 2s

Does the sidewinder get hot running 3s. I planned on running 2s because of the higher mah rating. What kind of run time are these small packs capable of in parallel?

You run that on 3s, that's like 63000 rpm. How many runs do you get before it overheats?
