    Best Upgrades?

Well, I'm looking at upgrading my Slash because it's still only 50/50 I'll get my Summit... The Slash is a 2wd Xl-5. But, anyway, what are the best upgrades under, $250? Most of the parts (no joke) are worn out. The tie rod ends, the steering bell cranks, the tires, (almost slicks now) the shocks, the castor blocks, the driveshafts, and even the a-arms all have tons of slop in them! (But look at the bright side, I've sure had fun getting those parts that worn out) I'm looking at getting as much upgrades (number wise) as I can. I really don't want to spend $150 on one part. Here is what I'm looking at getting.

    Traxxas big bore shocks
An aluminum transmission case (Which brand should I get?)
A better motor esc. combo then the Xl-5 setup it had right now.
    Better tires.
Replacement parts for all of the worn out ones I listed above.

    Any other ideas?
I'm not sure on getting lipos, my mom hates them. Thanks for the help!

Why does your mom hate them?
Honestly I would upgrade what's really bad. Other wise than I would get a castle sct race pro. I got mine for 289.99 but it was a little much. Maybe 210$ if your lucky. Lipos will burn out a brushed motor

My mom won't let me get lipos after she googled lipos and watched a video of a over charged lipo explode and catch fire. No matter what I say, se says they are too risky and she won't let me get them even if I charge them in a safe. Go figure.

Well I talked to my mom the same thing and she saw the same video, but I said: those lipos are the "old generation" and now the lipos are more safe and i made a container for "nuclear waste" (i am joking) and just i need the lipo charger and the lipos
Another upgrade is a brushless system(i used the vxl combo and was exelent but now i am using a mamba monster, found in a ERBE or EMBE )

Well the same thing can happen to nimh batteries too. It all depends on how you take care of the batteries. I have never had an issue with my lipo batteries. If you are concerned about lipo fires, you can get a fireproof lipo bag to charge them in.

SSSHHHHHHHHH!!! Don't tell mom! Any other upgrades beside RPM parts? I'll get some rpm parts for my Slash, so that's a given.

    In my opinion ......
Shop Marketplace for a Velineon combo @ $90-125
Arms and driveshafts next so you have control $$25 or so
Fix up stock shocks likely a pair or two of shafts $6-12
Maybe Proline wheels and tires rears $30
SPC LiPo on sale now: http://www.specpointbatteries.com/in...p?productID=59 $25
Stock tranny is durable and easiy rebuildable as needed, alum not needed in my opinion
Freshen up all tranny and wheel bearings can check Avid bearings for quality and price

You still are under $250! Go have fun or get a better charger or a second LiPo while they are on sale!

Alright! Good to know! What's the best aluminum transmission case? It seems some how I warped my stock plastic case...

Personally I consider this thread over at URC as one of the best "essential upgrades" threads.

the first post covers most evrything except the which motor? debate.
