He told me a 2s 30c 4000mah lipo wont be faster/quicker then the stock 8.4v traxxas rustler battery..this cant be..can it?

He's actually right. The Lipo won't really be faster, just punchier and more consistent. With NiMh the voltage drops significantly as you run it, making it get slower and slower. The LiPo will not drop its voltage as fast as the NiMh will. Fully charged, the NiMh should be just as fast as the LiPo.

i agree with Rob, Fully charged NiMh should be just as fast as the LiPo in the begining but dont last a long run time as the lipo does. as mention, lipo gets good amount of volts consistantly thru every punch.

Lipo 14.8v
NiMH 16.8v

you be the judge, I say Lipo is faster....cleaner and more efficient able to deliver more amperage as requested....Nimh, bottlenecks requested amps

A fully charged lipo is 4.20v per cell

7cell Nimh is higher voltage fully charged so would be faster for the first few pulls of the throttle.but will fade much quicker depending on the load being applied is the way I understand it

If you ESC can run 2/3s, the power is over the top.....

Remeber, lipos are significantly lighter, so you will probably get more punch.
