Sealing diff cover halves with silicone?

Upon dissassembley of my stampede, I noticed diffs have no lube in them. I installed various weight silicone diff lube in the diffs, and it is seeping out where the halves of diff covers come together and getting lube on other parts of vehicles. So is it safe to seal diff case halves with silicone after filling with diff lube to prevent this from happening?

    Thanks in Advance,

It shouldn't hurt. Just for the record, I just cleaned and replaced the fluid in my diffs last month after a good year of bashing. The fluid was black but still there and still nice and thick. R U overfilling or do they get completely empty?

Also, how's that little rubber gasket looking?

I wil check out next time I take about diff's. How much diff lube should I be putting in there? I don't fill it even close to the max, but probably do put in a bit to much.

I go about 3/4 full, just past the shaft of the spider gears and have never had problems.

I only had about half full, leaning towards problems with gasket, I dont recall mine even having any. I will but some and maybe silicone for good measure. What diff lube weights are you using (if thats privileged info regarding your setup you can either pm me or if its trade secret I understand keepin it secret. In my real cars I am very selective who I share my setups with, lol
    Thanks again for info

I used a mix of 100k and 50k to aim for 75k.. Here is a good mixing tool.. 75k rear and 30 up front works great for my bashing!

Yup! I wouldn't be where I'm at today if it wasn't for advice from fellow forum members!
    Pay it forward!
