    Question Metal Spur?

I just smoked another 54t stock spur gear attempting WOT on 4s. I was running on 3 wheel drive because my stock "band-aid" shaft blew in just a few minutes. I'm thinking about the Robinson Gen-3 slipper w/ metal 54t spur. It's only 30 bucks online and I'm in need of a new slipper (and a spur) anyway. So for double the cost maybe I'll save some cash in the long run.

    Any thoughts?

I have the gen 3 unit and love it, at first I had it meshed wrong and it got unbelievably hot almost immediately, backed it of a touch and now runs around 90 degrees and I have zero problems. I am very happy with it, keep in mind thats on 3s.

I'm pretty comfortable with my gear meshing touch; not a worry.

Just make sure you have a high quality pinion. The stock pinions will get chewed in short order.

I have mostly HQ Robinson Racing pinions; they should do the trick! And yes, I just ordered the Gen 3...should get it early next week. Just in time for my MIPs and new aluminum bellcrank.

Now I have my eyes on a CC 2650

I was having problems with robinson racing spur gears, called then and the recomended 5mm (ithink) bigger input shaft and adapter and have guaranteed me no problems, claim it will hold up longer than metal spur gear. They also said the smaller shaft 32p spur gears is a poor just and won't last long at all, which I figured out the hard way

I think you mean pinion instead of spur?

Stick with rrp, losi, or traxxas Revo/Maxx 5mm 32p pinions. I know all 3 of those are great and durable.

I meant pinion, I spent a deal of time on the phone with robinson racing and due to success I have had with other products from them I will stick with them, I am pretty brand loyal.
