    stock vs big bore shocks

I was told at my local hobby shop that the stock shocks in my rustler vxl are the same as big bore they just are not aluminum.is this true?they did not have the alum big bore and sold me alum caps and nitrided shafts and said this will work just as good.whats the differance between big bore and the ultra shock?thanks,Troy

Big Bores work better as they are alloy, but ultras are the stock plastic ones.
And there he goes with the carbon...

All the internal parts such as the pistons, shafts seals are all the same. The difference is the aluminum bodies are better performing than the plastic bodies. The aluminum tends to be smoother and more predictable in performance not to mention more durable and longer lasting. Your set up with the aluminum caps and TiNN shafts is good and will work good.

Not really. The teflon coated bodies have way more effect on action than the shafts.

my ultra shocks work great with the correct springs and shock oil along with big bore tin shafts and aluminum traxxas caps.
