    stock xl5 speed run

I ran 31 mph with titan 12 t 28/86 gear and 5000 mah battery, it was cold about 45, would the car run faster if it was warmer? First pass was 26, after about 6 passes the best I could get was 31. would a 83t spur help with the 28 pinion? thanks Stan

    well umm warmer is wores
heat is the enimie in the world of electric

if your out side temps get lower you can gear up or if the 12t is below 160f then you can gear it up also

that battery is it a lipo or nimh?

You can drop the spur gear down, but it takes like 6 teeth to notice a difference. Most of the time it's used to fit a taller pinion on for added room if the motor is shoved all the way to the back of the gearbox. Yet at the same time adds more choice of gearing.

I'd be careful at gearing to tall it won't take much to overheat that Titan 12T. Then comes amp draw, this could fry your electrics & burn up the motor. I'd move up to brushless and then not have to worry about most of any of that. A temp gun is your friend if you are going to make speed passes like that.

    Hope this helps!

31mph is good for a stocker. I would be happy and not melt the motor lol unless of course if you melt the motor your going to upgrade to brushless. . In that case gear it tall and throw in a 3s lipo lol Weeeeeeee. BOOM.

    NEW MOTOR !

I have xl-5 which is now upgraded all the way around but I wouldnt suggest continue using that gearing IMO you will fry that titan just like they are known for doing.

yea I am saving for the brushless, but am enjoying the titan for now, also run titan 21t with 23/83 and it doesnot get hot and tops out at a blistering 17mph!
