Titan 12T Care?

I bought this Rustler from my friend for cheap because he burned the motor. I just got a new Titan 12T to replace it but from what i read they are subject to burning out quite quickly.

I was wondering what care or maintenance i should be doing to prolong the life of the Titan?

Also i was wondering how should i break in the motor and if that would help it last longer?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. (Sorry if this has been asked before, i tried searching but the search engine just hangs when i try.)

So far i learned about the water break in which i could do, my only dilemma being i have no motor cleaner on hand. Is there any other way to clear out the water afterwards or is it really the only way?
