I just got in my new solder station today and I love it already!!
Already soldered on two new male TRX plugs and it was dreamy... I'm soldering everything in sight. It's my new BFF. lol
On the workbench already.

Nice! A friend of mine has the same (or very similar) station for years and it works awesome.
What were you soldering with before?
i want onewhere did you buy it and how much?
I was using a 40 watt radio shack iron. It worked ok but was a little slow and my work was ugly sometimes.
I got it from amazon for about $80 US shipped.

I think the helping hands is a huge aid, and for about $10 it's well worth the price.

I have a Weller gun solder iron. It work's good, but most of my battery and esc wire's are 8 gauge so I think I need around 120w. so I was looking for a nice Weller setup for Xmas.

Nice! Gotta love the Weller. Mine is 3rd or 4th hand and is older than...harry697, lol.
http://www.harborfreight.com/helping-hands-319.html for $2.99.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.
Poor Harry... Lol
That has to be the same helping hand as mine, down to the magnifying glass (I removed mine). Only I paid the LHS price of about $10.

It's most likely in better condition too.
That reminds me, I have a container of flux that is ancient. It's in a round tin container. Got it from my dad and his only request was to save the tin when it's empty because they don't sell them anymore. I believe it was originally my grandfather's when he had a tv/radio repair business.
I'll see if I can find it and post a pic.
I was a out to write "older than me" but I didn't think anybody would believe that!
Please do get a pic of that tin!
Re. flux, I find liquid flux is far superior to the paste type. And big spools of solder are only marginally more expensive that small spools. Anybody else?

I've been using Novak silver solder lately. It's a small roll for a large price. I would hate to see what a normal sized roll would go for.
