grease on the easy start gears?

Should the gears have any kind of lube on them??? Looks like there was some type of lube at some point but everything is dry now??

Yes, you can lube the ez start gears. They are made of nylon, so they don't need lube, but I can't hurt anything if you don't. I put lube on them because that's how it came new, so I just use a lithium grease, works great. Hope this helps!

Yes you can put grease on them, just DON'T put it on the one-way-bearing or you'll run into problems but other than that you're good. I put it on mine to prevent moisture from reaching the various metal parts in the 'system'.
