My “NEU” PEDE 4x4 Truggy build

After seeing a truggy FS thread at another forum, I had to add one to my RC collection. I already have a few of the upgraded parts to get me started that I never used on my kids 4x4 slash. I’ll definitely be using some of the same upgrades I used on my UE Slash 4x4 MT, but will go a different route on suspension and motor combo. Here’s a list of the list of my items for my truggy setup, most of them will be arriving this week and next except for the 17mm Tekno adapters which I have back ordered:

    Electronics:
    NEU 1509 1.5D (4500KV)
    DS1313 servo
    Spektrum SR3100 DSM2

    Suspension/drivetrain:
TKR6852PL Tekno RC M6 Pro-Line ProTrac Driveshaft & Hub Carrier Set front
TKR6851PL Tekno RC M6 Pro-Line ProTrac Driveshaft & Steering Block Set rear
    PRO6083-00 Pro-Line ProTrac Suspension Kit (Stampede 4x4)
TKR6755 Tekno RC Big Bone Center Driveshaft & Outdrive Kit
TKR1654-17 Tekno RC 17mm M6 Driveshaft Hub Adapter Set (BACK Ordered)
    King Headz Aluminum Motor Mount
Traxxas Front and Rear Sway Bar
    Vorza/D8 Shocks (97mm)
    Losi 15mm Shock Springs 2.3" X 5.0 Rate (Black) (2)
Hot Bodies Long Shock End (4)
Kyosho Big Bore Shock End Set (4)

    Body/etc:
    Stampede 4x4 Roller
    Pro-Line BullDog body
    Hot Bodies Rear Wing Holder
    RPM Wide Front Bumper
    Vortex 1/8 Scale Wing
STRC Aluminum Finned Motor Plate ST6890GM
Traxxas Multi-Cell Battery Hold Down Set
    Outerwears Performance Truck Shroud
    Novak 5mm 32-Pitch Steel Pinion Gear 3-Pack (15,16,17)
Traxxas .8 Mod Spur Gear (50T) (Slash 4x4)
    Snappyrc MMP mount

    Roller and Vorza shocks:

    NEU motor comparison shots:

    CC2400kv / NEU1509 1.5D / CC2650kv

    CC5700kv, VAPOR4000kv, NEU 1509 (4500kv), CC2650kv, and the CC2200kv.

    Test fitment with MMP mount:

Stay tuned, I’ll update as parts come in………..

Awesome! I will be doing a pede truggy sometime this year. After seeing the one on ultimate rc I knew I had to build my own.

This motor is still brand new and I have yet to use it. All I had to go by were old reviews from 2-3 years ago. I guess many have used it on their Slash 4x4 and lighter 1/8 scale buggies and the motor have kept cool. This motor is the perfect setup since it is a direct fit on a shorter Stampede chassis, plus I am getting “Big Block” power along with a high kv rating usually found on 540 sized motor that would struggle. I was going to use this on my on-road rustler but decided not to after crashing it on a speed run using my other 540 sized motor. The sale price I picked this up for this year is almost double of what people were paying two years ago when it had the old blue or black finned cans and the last thing I want to see is scratches and dents on it

The 2400kv and 2650kv are great motors and my friends and I have used them on our Slash MT and Stampede 4x4s with great results. Since this will be a truggy setup using smaller SC sized wheels, the high kv on 3s is plenty for my high speed needs. Plus I picked up a few1/8 scale RCs this year that I barely have enough 4-6s lipo batteries to use so a fast 3s max setup fits the bill.

Thanks for the tip bud! I'll add those on my next shopping cart

Here's another update with the Protrac suspension and Tekno CVD's installed:

Next, I'll be working on the D8/Vorza shock mod to match the stock shock length:

It definitely is, I covered it with clear shrink wrap to avoid any scratches

More updates......I had a chance to finally mount the shocks, body, and wing:

I installed the wing mount using some of my spares from my other 1/8 trucks and it matched the mounting holes from the wing mount....

I went ahead and clipped of the top bar on the stock bumper...

It was a perfect match and it followed the mold under the body as my hood roll cage

The wing is a bit on a large scale and I'll have to look for another.....(maybe it will match better once I mount larger wheels once the 17mm Tekno adapters come in)....

I still have to make some adjustments with the wing and body, but it gives you the idea of how it will look...

Looks good man!!! That motor has my curiousity now. I can't wait to hear how it runs. I used to have my P4de setup Truggy style when I first got it. Definitely one clean look'n ride, keep up the good work!!

Thanks man! My friend runs his truggy pede with the 3800kv and the power is more than plenty on 3s. I might have to run my center diff and try it on 2s to see if its controllable without popping up the front.

I was hoping that my gearing and sway bars came in today so I can run this beast, all I could do was paint the body and place it back on the shelf

Awesome car. Those Street Fighters look great on it. I'm also curious about the performance of the Neu.

The 1509 Neu's are awesome motors for their size, I have one in the 1y wind 3600kv and it is strong. I ran it in an E Maxx for a bit just see what it would do on 4s, no lack of power, wheelies on the rear bumper-no problem lol....

have you thought about wrapping some padding around that inner front bumper to keep it from scratching the paint?

I was looking at those shocks, they look just like the front shocks on my Ofna LX2E; the diameter (19mm), color and shaft colors look identical. I wonder if they're the same??

I put a set of the front ofna's on the rear of my slash and they worked out real good.

What shocks are you planning on using for the front? The Vorza rears are perfect size especially witht the longer shock end. I need to raise up the front mounts a bit on the front shocks to lower the stance.

    Gen ace battery

Nice! I love it! Those tires are so awesome. That thing should fly on the track. Those body post on the shock towers are the way to go. I did the same thing. I am thinking about adding a gen ace battery to my arsenal. How do you rate the battery?

yes...it just goes into your batteryport or whatever extra channel you have available and then goes into your esc power wires...it comes with easy instructions.you can read about it more here: http://www.castlecreations.com/products/ccbec.html

here's the manual with how to hook it up: http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...user_guide.pdf

here's avideo on how to do it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdUhLH7BS4E
this one, they are using the castle bec pro, but the wiring is the same.

do all the mmp come with a fan if so i herd that you need to plug it into the receiver but if i put the bec in my bind port i wont have an extra port to plug my fan into (lights in the aux channel with remote switch)

do not put your bec in the bind port..use 1 for steering, 2 for throttle and run a Y harness in the battery slot for the bec and either lights or your fan. i think all of the combos comes with fans but not if you just buy the esc alone. like i said, i much prefer a good heatsink and proper hole for ventilation in the body than a fan anyday.
