Rag6 4xbasher build

And now it starts. Just ordered the skeleton:

Ok, have a simple vision:
3s cool running durable basher with power comparable to a stock vxl, with the option of gearing anywhere I want too. I will keep the build as simple and stock as I can. Here we go...

Think a MMP/3800 would fit that build just right.

MMP/w 1800kv 1512 1/8 motor I got from the castle clearance sale for 60 shipped a while back. It is about 30% shorter than the erbe 2200kv motor. 3s spc pack planned for power. I think the 3800 on 3s would be a little too much for the lazy bashing I want. Around the same speed/acceleration as stock, but motor runnin ambient temps. Should have a good bit of torque, and 30 mph with proper gearing, all the while staying ice cold. Kind of a geezer build lol.

Should be an interesting build to watch. I was also thinking about building a 4x4 stampede, so I'll use this thread for some advice and tips.

Nice man! You shouldnt have any issues with it running ice cold. Especially since the cooler fall weather is starting to show its face. I'm in a agreement with Dknuckles, 'load with pics'.

Waiting for my revo sale to be completed before I can buy more parts. I def will include pics of everything.

Dont look at me for tips lol, this is new territory for me. Pay attention to the advice I am given from the guys who know the shorter 4x4 platform.

I still have no idea whats gonna happen with the center diff/slipper/1 way yet, but will prob try to give the diff a try first. A combo diff/slipper would be cool if it existed.

I have a question for the pede 4x4 experts... What bell crank do you like, and why? I could go with the stock crank and emaxx spring, but if there are better basher cranks out there, I would like to see them.

Not seeing myself on any list of experts, but I am still happy with the stock bell crank. Simply because I never had an issue with it. I use the T-bone servo protector. Maybe that prevented issues, but so far so good.

I know while racing on carpet, the stock spring was proving to be weak. I put shims under it and it worked for a while, but is getting weaker. An adjustable collar type would have helped me racing. Especially when higher torque servos were installed. The shims really improved my steering response. I may never have noticed, but trying to improve on 4.3 sec laps, the stock spring getting weaker was magnified.

Peter, expert or not, your experience will have pull with me. The slash 4x4 I raced and mildly bashed 2 yrs ago is a different animal than a bashworthy pede 4x4.

It's actually called a servo guard. Mine is transparent, but this one will work too.

That is smooth... Have you had any issues without it? I really like the smooth transition from bulk to chassis...

I never had issues before, but I thought it was a good idea to protect the servo.
That smooth transition is with the T-bone front bumper by the way. My transparent one sticks out a bit but survived quite some abuse without a sweat.

Another great upgrade is the T-bone wheelie bar. I landed on that a zillion times and it's still in one piece.

The only down side to the servo guard is rocks can get trapped in it

The way you are building this pede it should be bullet proof and lots of fun man

will keep an eye on this build.when you do your diffs put in traxxas part no 5382x its the diff carrier supports they are sweet and can take a kicking....peace

I just got mine in yesterday. Sounds like I'm going to be busting into my diffs shortly.

They are worth it because alot of use are using high powered set ups and its just good to know are diffs can take the punishment we dish out

I am going to use a 4-6s motor on 3s. What do these supports do?

They stop the diff cases warping or going out of shape.mine did with the vxl system on 3s before it died

I picked up the Hexpax HexScrews (armor plated) last week. I'm going to try them out and see how they are. One good thing you wont have to worry about any rusting with this set.

The carrier is pretty sweet to, you can mount it on the wall and pull the organizers out from the size.

Just ordered strc motor plate, center diff, tbone ft bumper/guard combo, and a take off screw set from ebay.

The screw set has all the specialty items, shims, locknuts... Figured I needed those starting from scratch like this.

Well, done spending for a bit, so will post pics when the stuff starts coming in.

One of the 4x4 experts I go to praises the STRC HD aluminum bellcrank.

I was researching at that all morning. I will go that route. Bought the center diff instead. Next extra cash it is my first pick. I can prob guess who the expert is lol.

Well, first pics.
I ordered some stock slash stuff from another member and also some other stuff yesterday. Was at my door before I could get the tracking number...

Out of the lot, I picked up an SPC 3s 5200 40c. Looks a little beat up, but after 2 cycles on the Hyperion, and watching the charge/discharge graphs, everything looks great. It arrived perfectly balanced, and has stayed that way through charging. I will eventually pick up an spc 8200, but this one was a good deal:

Don't know which one I will use, but both are almost new. I do know that I will eliminate the switches...

I traded my gopro for the 1st esc. I got that gopro for the equivalent of A 20$ fare in my cab.

This is the motor I have had for a long long time. Never run in a truck, but was mounted in my slash 4x4 mt build that was never completed. I ran it through my mmm from my revo to hear it spin:

I really thought the shorter length of this motor would really fit well on the shorter chassis pede. Here is a comparison in size between a 540 cm36 castle 4600, the 550 velineon, and
the 1512:

I think I may have a castle/compulsive problem lol!

More pics as parts come in. Chassis should be here in the am.

if i were you i would use 9/54 gearing if your aiming for 30mph

Which motor did you plan to you anyhow? If it is that 1800Kv one, you need a way more heavy gearing to get some speed.

Yeah, peter, 1800 kv on 3s. Was thinking 18 or 20/50 to start.

On 3S I guess (depending a bit on tires) 20/50 is a nice start.
