I'm down to 11/68. This kills top speed in high (15 mph vs 20) I rarely find myself in high, though I mostly crawl. It helped me for creeping slowly/ predictably over obstacles. In the winter I'll probably put the stock 14 tooth in for a little fun in the snow.

I've got 8/68. Not much speed but crawls great.

Does the 8 tooth pinion wear out spurs any faster? How much louder does it whine?? I've seen them and thought about getting one but hadn't heard of anyone using them

It is pretty noisy but I have metal spur also (Gen III robinson unit currently but some Hot Racing metal spurs as well). Wear is noticeable but not what I would term severe. Great for slow climbing.

i will throw this out there for the crawler only guy's
i changed to 12/ 58.it is basically stock ratio but allows the motor to rotate more to the center and down a bit lower.
getting the weight lower and more centered in the chassis.58 spur is about as low as you can go without relocating the esc and maybe some trimming of the shock mount.
    Mountains cant stop me
    they have tried
