    Waterproofness?

How much of the mamba monster combo is waterproof? I am thinking of upgrading from titan 550s to a faster motor.

non of it maybe the motor can get wet a little but the esc is not waterproof at all. if you want a waterproof system then you will need to plasti-dip the esc but voids the warranty with castle and traxxs if you get the traxxas combo. there is the Hobbywing sc8 combo that is waterproof already that is safe to use around water.

It only runs 4s...if you want to run 6s go with the MMM. You can plastidip to waterproof, I've done this to mine with no issues...been running it for about 6 months now and all is good. No overheating whatsoever.

Read post 16...that is the method I used to plasti dip...NOTE* you will void your warranty with this method.

    Good luck...

what craig posted is true about the sc8 its got power you can see some of my vids of mine found in my thread here and i dont use full throttle in those vids most of the time. i have to agree if you want to run 6s get the castle and plasti dip it or you could even get the hobbywing 150a esc xerun 2000kv motor but not sure if you can plasti dip that esc though since its not waterproof only splash proof and havent heard of anybody doing that to that esc though. so far that i know the sc8 is that cheapest that is waterproofed

Any recommendations on a set of lipo's that can I use with the SC8 combo? Also what is the highest KV you would recommend not going over with the Emaxx? Also what else would recommend putting on my emaxx for the upgrade to such a powerful motor? I have RPM front a-arms, RPM rear true-track a-arm/axle carriers, RPM front and rear body mounts, and steel cv shafts and driveshafts. Is there anything you would recommend further? Thanks for any and all help.

You have alot already upgraded which are good things to have upgraded already. if something breaks then upgrade at the time but if its still good then no need to upgrade. I havent broken anything yet running 4s all the time. Take a look at spc lipos in particular the 2s 5000 25C lipos or they have a 50C 2s lipo that would be better to supply the amps but costs more though. look at smc-racing.com they have a few specials on lipos for 2s priced good at 45 i think which i will be getting for better lipos than what i have. take a look in my thread here to see what lipos i have on mine right now not the best but are holding up good so far i get 35+min runtimes not sure how but i do.

Highest KV would be this motor-http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-ezrun-4065-2700kv-black-motor.html
i hear it works good with the sc8 esc and has tons of power just gets a slight bit hotter than the 2000kv motor i have. there is a combo you can get with both sc8+2k motor. link:
    http://www.rcecho.com/HOBBYWING-XERU...mbo-ME222.html
I ordered mine from this place just use express shipping for $8 motor ok worth every penny or you will wait 2+ weeks. wish2012 i used helped when i bought mine.

One thing though. I'm new to the whole lipo thing. I understand a little bit here and there. But the one thing I'm still kinda confused on is this 2s,3s,4s, and 6s stuff. I've been reading that the ESC and motor requires 4S, so does two 2S lipo's make 4s? Other things like not letting the lipo get too low on voltage and overcharging can be very bad. Also what does 25C mean when it comes to lipo's? Like I said I'm new to the lipo/brushless side of the fence. Thanks again for any info.

Cause for one of the reasons I want to go brushless is because I want to be able to standing backflips and do standing wheelies going across a lawn.

And the reason I was asking how high the KV can be is because I was looking on eBay at some SC8 combos and saw some that have 4000kv and higher.

Each lipo battery pack have a certain number of cells inside. Each cell has 3.7 volts, what you see as 2S, 3S, is the number of cells connected in series inside the pack, that's what the "S" stands for.

A truck of this size should run a motor between 1900-2700 kv.

    My 2 cents.

read up on lipos here: https://sites.google.com/site/tjingu...po-terminology
    https://sites.google.com/site/tjingu...the-variable-c
    https://sites.google.com/site/tjingu...-chargers-work

    https://sites.google.com/site/tjingu.../lipo-problems
    https://sites.google.com/site/tjinguytech/soldering
    https://sites.google.com/site/tjingu.../lipo-disposal

All of these articals will explain everythign you need to know about lipos, what the C ratings mean, picking a charger, picking a power supply if your charger needs one, how to charge, soldering, and lastly disposing of lipos safely most important to enviroment.

The esc can run 4s max so 2-2s lipos in series is max what you can use. I used the traxxas series connector they sell for about $7 and soldered on a traxxas male connector to the end of the esc leads and then soldered on the motor connectors and used the heatshrink supplied in the box just make sure you cover the connectors on the motor-esc good with the heatshrink ok.

the reason you see the sc8 with higher KV motors is because this can be used with SCT trucks short course trucks like the slash and slash 4x4 but it can also be used for MT's like the e revo, emaxx, revo, tmaxx trucks as well when converting them to electric which is another subject.

Hey hope those links help you out to understand lipos and such.

The sc8 hobbywing esc is very good but be aware that they only recommend 4s for low Kv motors. You will need to check it out to see what they recommend with your motor. Its a great esc though, I had one in my rustler with a hobbywing 4 pole 4000Kv motor and it was brilliant on 3s..

The question is, is the leopard 2700kv motor suitable for the emaxx?

that would work its just like the hobbywing 2700kv. Good motor for use with the SC8 esc though it may run just a little hotter but you are planning on only running 4s right? that motor has a limit of 5s and you know esc is 4s max.

Also what is a good waterproof low voltage beeper? And when it comes to replacing my front carriers when it comes time to, replace with RPM carriers or go aluminum?

before traxxas made lipos there is a number of people running gens ace packs.
If there was a poll on what people used they would maybe be in the top 3. But now traxxas has lipos and i think they come with some of there models now, the list will change. I'd still think gens ace would be somewhere up high in that list.
with traxxas you get quality and underrated what they are, with other brand packs, you get inexpensive, but is a mine field getting a quality pack.
my advice if your new to lipo, don't be tight buying a cheap charger, yes they work but could make a good lipo bad.
you want a charger that can charge a lipo in 60minutes, Theres no such thing as a fast charger, the lipos define if it can be charged faster. and you don't want one thats going to take 120minutes to charge a battery as that makes you walk away elsewhere or get distracted while it's charging because it's taking too long.
Guide books aren't part of the packaging.

I've seen a guy running his Emaxx in the snow, He said he thought all traxxas RC's were waterproofed. he said he dryed it after every run. I just ordered some lexan to make a water tight box to put my esc in.

yeah thats what most think since everything is just about waterproof but the MMM esc fools people i believe its in the manual about it not being waterproof. maybe traxxas will start to put a waterproof esc in these after castle makes theirs.

Question. How much paint does it take to paint a 1/10 lexan body?
