    Batteries.

I'm new to all of this. Im building a slayer (older model) to a revo 3.3 into a erevo. Yea I know that was a long way to go to get to here. But this way you know what I'm working with. The motor is a 2150 kv and the ESC I have is a HW 120a and can handle lipo batteries. I can run up 4s. What is the best way to do this. 2 2s or just a single 4s. Like I said I'm new to all of this. I

1 4s would take up less room. But if you already have a couple of 2s lipos. then id use series adaptor. series adaptor looks like this

but make sure the adaptor is 12 guage wire for any 1/10th scale. i think the 1/16th scale uses 16 guage wire. i prefer 12 guage wire..

I would suggest SPC, as a starting point, there are also some other recommended brands such as Traxxas, gens ace, thunderpower, venom...I would stay away from ebay cheapies especially in such a heavy application. Check out Humays build he did what you are doing, sort of and went with a single 4s lipo, you may want to look into what he did and what he would do better. I think for the conversion a 4s would be better so you dont have to worry about having two packs to mount.

i usually go on ebay. lot of people use spc lipos which are very good on price. just google spc lipo. make sure you have a good lipo charger also. they are reasonable price on ebay. tower hobbies should have a good selection to. hope this helps. good luck.

You kept the 3.3 alum chassis? you can buy a BL Revo chassis for about $20.00. Either way the 3.3 you can stack 2/2s or a brick 4s.

    This is a good start..
Just don't buy no name Ebay batts...

    MY BATTS:
    2S 9000 x 28C = 252,000 divide 1000 = 252 amps
    2S 8000 x 28C = 224,000 divide 1000 = 224 amps
    3S 5200 x 40C = 208,000 divide 1000 = 208 amps
    2S 4700 x 25C = 117,500 divide 1000 = 117.5 amps
^I run in my Summit.. ^ Requires proper gearing^

    ( mah x c rating / 1000 = amps)

    The
more amps the better / minimun of 120 amps.

The ESC will only draw the amount of amps it needs.

Higher the mAh the longer the runtime.
For brushless systems 8000 mAh about 45 min & a 5000 mAh about 30 min.
Times are longer for brushed systems.

Batts in series double the voltage:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 4s 20c 5000mah

Batts in parallel double the mah capacity:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 2s 20c 10,000mah.

A temp gun is kind of a must have.....

Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
    Everything warm just right..

Motor ~ 180/190*F (82/88*C) maximum, ideally 140/160*F (60/71*C), temps can be 10*F higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F (65*C)
    Lipo's ~ 140*F (60*C) max, ideally 100/120*F (38/49*C).........

Besure to check sizing before you buy any batteries...

In time some batteries will become discontinued...

No particular order as to good, better, or best....

    2S

With larger Lipo battery wires, you might need to - enlarge the exit hole on battery doors....
or run wires out the vents..
