mmp sct 2400kv vs 3800kv

ok guys, I am getting a castle for sure with the esc combo,but I still don't quite understand the difference between a 2400 or a 3800kv from castle, The site i will order from says both are good for 4x4 applications. What would you get for your pede?

oh do I need the castle programming card or can I run it as is when I get it?

Yes on the card, I have the 2400kv on my converted stampede 4x4 and love it , my best answer too you is that the 2400kv is best for 3s lipo and up And the 3800kv is best for 2s lipos. The 2400kv is a monster! I do plan on getting the 3800kv setup for my exo terra, hopefully it will

3800KV will have more torque less speed but run hotter...

2400KV will have more speed less talk and be cooler....

I think you need to run 3s-4s to get the most out of the 2400 it think where as the 3800 will be ok with good 2s LiPo's.

You will not be dissapointed! It's a very good combo and a blast on 3S.

BTW hope you have a good Lipo to run with the system. 125A min, 140A recommended, & anything more makes it a beast. Typically a 30c rated pack.

Geared the same, the 3800 on 2S will give more top speed than the 2400 on 3S. The 3800 can handle 3S while the 2400 is specified for even 5S. On 4S the 2400 is a monster. 3800 is a great motor, but since the little price difference, the 2400 gives more power per dollar.

I have a duratrak onyx 3s 6400mah 25c battery, hope that's good enough. Also what else do I need to make this combo work? I got the field programming card(i guess i need the cable for this?)and the castle shroud fan lol, I don't need a new transmitter or anything do I? thanks

The stock transmitter and receiver work fine with the combo. The field programmer connects directly to the ESC with the wire that goes into the receiver. You can connect the field programmer to a PC (with Castle Link software) with a mini USB cable to be able to use more programmable functions.

Beware that a too tight slipper clutch can cause broken drive shafts or stripped wheel hexes. You might want to upgrade those to steel ones (Tekno, MIP or FLM).

That battery should be able to deliver 160A, so that will be more than enough.

The Tekno's are a very good upgrade. They have the 17mm adapters if you ever decide to move to the bigger hex's down the road to. This has to be purchased separately and will have to be by tekno also.

I was actually looking at the 17mm today, I think I'm gonna wait and see how aluminum 12 mm hexes work, after my stock ones break of course lol.

That's not correct.
The higher the KV the more speed but less torque.
The lower the KV the more torque but less speed.
Just to clearify.
