Exclamation why my motors went AWOL

the esc has corrosion on the positive connector thus over discharging the batt. and overheating the motor
All I need now is to set a new lap record.

That makes absolutely no sense. That corrosion has nothing to do with killing a motor.

the corrosion acts like a resistor on the connector thus power is limited and the motor needs more power and so the esc sucks out the batt. power

yes it is, it can be caused by not properly sealing the connectors, its the positive connector thats corroded

How did the connector get corroded? What color is the corrosion?

It's supposed to be a copper color because the connector is gold coated... The dark green just might be the metal aging. You could just put a different connector on it and not have to send it in...

Oh, the motor connector! I thought you meant the ESC connector. You could have replaced the connector, a couple companies sell them, I'm not sure if Traxxas does or not.

Traxxas sells 3.5 bullet connectors which is what your velineon motor should have on it. They sell both male and female. Are these the connectors you need?

So this is on a Titan motor, xl-5 esc? I thought we were talking about the velineon setup. You can solder all new leads on the motor, easy fix. All lhs's should have them.

Are you talking about dielectric grease? It helps make a better connection and prevents corrosion. Any auto parts store will carry it.

It's usually labelled as bulb grease, but works for any electrical connection.

You could try some baking soda and water to make a cleaning paste. This will remove corrosion from a 1:1 auto battery, I'm not sure about yours, but it won't hurt anything.

the green is the oxidization of the copper, gold plating is used to protect it as they have low electrical resistance and good conductivity. Copper is cheaper so the connector is made from that then plated instead of just making a gold. once the gold has been worn down the green will always come back.
The outside skin of the statue of liberty is copper which has all oxidized is what gives the green look because it reacts with oxygen, copper doesn't rust, if it did plumbers will be getting sued all the time, they use copper water pipes for homes.

post 8, dark green and copper, is what happens when copper is oxidized.
If its not gold plated then its nickel coated. Same principle, use abrasion to get rid of the green you'll be removing the protective nickel coating and will need constantly looking at. Best just buy new connectors imo.
