Pinion and spur size

I have tried every combination I can think of to keep the motor and esc cool. I am running stock esc and stock motor on 2 2200 40c lipos in parallel. Can anyone help me from always overheating after only about 10 minutes of running. I mostly run on pavement and loose gravel. Never on grass because it overheats almost instantly.

I am assuming 2S LiPo's?

What size tire?
Tire size plays a big role in gearing.

Another thing to check is proper gear mesh.
Too tight will heat things up quick.

The tires are proline speedhawgs on Titus bead locks. I know the bead locks make it heavier but it is all I have for now. When setting the gear mesh I always use a piece of paper to adjust it. And yes they are 2s lipos.

Most of your overheating issue is due to the locks.

I ran 2S 2200's in parallel as well....
stock motor, stock ESC, buggy rear Hawgs on Axial Rebels...
23/50 gearing; no heat issues on pavement and dirt.
Even in 100°F ambient temperatures.

Try gearing down until you get lighter rims. Like 23/50 gearing
what gearing are you running now?

I am running 23/50 at the moment but I have tried many other different variations.

I.would maybe go 55 t spur but the rims are the problem
Do.you have the stock rims and tires, heatsink and fan on the esc? Will help but wont solve the problem

I have the stock tires and rims but they are pretty trashed. I will try a 55 spur for now and go to my Lhs tomorrow and order new rims. Would a mamba max pro esc help at all??

The mmp will not get hot and will help.
do you have a temp gun and ever taken motor temps?

I don't have a temp gun. It is something else I wanna get.

The esc normally is the weak link and the motor can handle it better.
Mmp also has a lot of tuning options that will come in handy don't forget the castle link!

I have been looking at getting the map for a while now but until recently I was running nimh's and didn't think it was nessesary but I think now is the time to get it. On a different topic I was just changing the spur an noticed that my slipper is seized to the little disc. Has that happened to anyone else. It's like I don't even have a slipper anymore. And is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future??

Sounds like it was slipping too much and overheated.
what setting did you have it set at. The heavy rims didn't help that either. I have a powerful neu motor and have ran 65 with no clutch problems

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. I guess I need to order one of those too when I order new rims.

Yep maybe a 50t spur when you get the rims too.
one good thing it will be easy to remove the tires from the rims

Practice makes perfect even with gluing tires!!

Yeah that's why I like the bead locks that and I'm not very good at glueing the tires.

Is the hpi 2196 rim good?? Is it light enough??

Hpi 2160 or 2140 or 2196 area few good 2" rims for the wide speed hawgs.they have some much needed offset that's helps with roll overs.
the 2196 not as much offset but still good!
