    Kyle Busch Race Truck

On Wednesday Aug 29th, I will be buying my 1st 1/16 scale RC. My LHS owner emailed me and told me he can get the KB truck (Brushed) for a pretty low price, $150.00 to be exact. I have noticed Traxxas removed it from the electrics list on their website. Are they discontinuing it?

I have no intentions of keeping the stock Titan 550 motor in it. It will be upgraded with a 1/10 (550 can) scale brushless motor and will run dual 2200 Lipo's in it. I'm looking for pure speed, nothing else.

What is the biggest motor you guys have ever put or seen in one of these trucks (or Rally, mustang, ken block ect)

I had not heard it was discontinued but it certainly wasnt a huge seller. It is listed in the previous models section.

The highest speeds, as far as I know, have been achieved with a 380 sized motor. The high center of gravity is tough to overcome at 70+ MPH. lol

$150 is a great deal... especially because it does not matter if it is discontinued or not; 98% of the truck is the same as any other 16th.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

well if you have the money dont get a 550 sized motor get a 380 sized nue motor just as powerfull as a 550 with lower center of gravity as a 550

i hope others can explaine this more

Looks like the brushless one dropped in price too, getting that one instead. At least this one gives me 2.4ghz.... hate the 27mhz radios lol.

Can the VXL-3m handle 2 2200mah lipos in series or parallel?

I got the truck today, ended up getting the brushed version. Ran two 2200mah Lipo's in Parallel and got it up to 40km/h. Not bad at all. I for some reason tho after a few speed runs have lost reverse. I checked the XL-2.5 on all 3 modes, no reverse. Not sure if its the motor (Titan 550) or the ESC. Any ideas?

First thing to check is to make sure you are not in race mode... which is forward and brake only.

I tried all 3 modes, no reverse. It was working, then it just stopped. Nothing touched the ESC. No reverse also means I have no brakes either.

I know this might sound weird... but unplug the servo; even if it is working... then see if you get reverse back.

Tried that, No reverse. Even cycled through the profiles again, still only forward.

Is it the new 2.5 with LVD?
The original non LVD one is known to fry when hooked to LiPo.

Yup, its the new XL-2.5 with LVD. Just got the truck on Aug 29th.
My friend has a new titan 550 motor, will try that once I get it.

Same basic deal here only I had reverse in all modes and no forward/brakes. Turned out to be the ESC on my Mustang brushed model. Contacted Traxxas, they had me send it in for a replacement. Works good now. (So far)

If the motor works going forwards... it works in reverse.
More than likely, the ESC bit the dust.

I would call Traxxas. They are probably going to have you send in your ESC for a new one.

I sent Traxxas an email. I refuse to pay to call, as I live in Canada and they have no free # to call.

If your going for speed, your're going to get rid of the ESC and motor anyway. I wouldn't sweat it.

I saw a guy in a parking lot with some huge motor on a Rally and it did a back flip like a monster truck. He said he's gotten it to 90mph once. With 5000mah 6S pack. The pack is half the size of the car. He mounts it over the front shocks and bumper. It looked ridiculous, but all he cared about was the speed. If it can't look like a car while going fast, I'm not interested.., but that's just me. But the moral is that it can be fast. Your definition of fast will determine which electronics you choose, but the 3m is only spec'd safe with a 3s lipo. I've seen use more cells, but I don't know how long they were able to get away with it.

While yes I am looking for speed, I still want to be able to fit the truck body on. I have two 2200mah 2s lipos that fit right in the chassis. The LHS has a Dynamite Taser 3300kv motor and mini ESC combo pack, I have been debating on putting that in the truck.
