    questions on 3.3

Ok I just want to throw this out here and see if anyone can offer some advice.

First off im semi new to nitro and it took me almost a gallon of nitro and 2 glow plugs tuning my tmaxx 3.3 and I think I got it perfect but....It cuts out every now and then and its starting to annoy me a little.
I got the HSN set back about a 1/4 turn from maximum performance and my LSN cuts out after about 4 secs on a pinch test.
Ive noticed it cuts out a lot after a 3-4 second WOT right after I let off the throttle and start applying the brake and turning.
It seems to not like to start after cutting out although it does fire right back up about half the time.
I have an old tempgun temp gauge that reads between 240 and 252 when I checked after cutting out so I dont think it could be heat related.
Also after getting the LSN tuned in my idle is great, I thought that would stop the cutting out as before my idle was very erratic. But im still cutting out at least 1 time every tank. Also Im running an Ofna tank.

Edit: Oh and would it cut alot more life off my engine if I jumped from 20% to 30%?
Also would I lose alot of speed and power by going to 10% which im noticing is cheaper lol.

Sounds like your running way hot. Both my Jatos I only run at about 220.

Hmm maybe I will try a bigger spur gear and see if that brings my temps down a little. But from what I understand it wouldnt cause me to stall unless I went over 270. But what do I know Im the new guy lol.

    Your temperature is good.
I would turn your idle speed screw 1/8 turn clockwise and see if that helps.
When you change fuel nitro % it usually will not harm the engine. However be careful if you're not using traxxas top fuel because some other brands cut down on the % of oil when the nitro % goes up. When the nitro % goes up, you can use a colder glow plug.
When the nitro % goes down you will probably have to use a hotter plug.

I will have to check idle tomorrow.
it boggles my mind that it cuts out. I have spent a few hours reading up on nitro and it seems like my tune is dead on.
I know its not the plug .

Sounds like you're borderline on the lean side on the High Speed Needle

Ya know I was looking at the online manual and noticed that little chart that shows where you would stall. Im gonna try richening it later and see if that helps.
It seems to run great but the stalls are just getting annoying. Plus I want to get the most life out of my 3.3

Just found my inner CB bearing all torn up and replaced the bearing. I will check later to see if that fix makes any difference.

Well I was getting frustrated today. I had it running great yesterday then got home today and fired it up let it warm up a little drove it around did a few small jumps then a few wot runs up and down the road and it started stalling again was a pain to restart then wouldnt idle so I turned up the idle screw and it idled high but was staying running then it just would not hold tune.
As I was walking back to the house I drove by myself slow and noticed a sound like an air leak. Well the muffler coupler was leaking bad so Im guessing that contributed to the crappy running? I hope so.
Got to wait till tues to get a new coupler and try it again lol.
Im pretty sure the stock gearing is 22/58 and Im running 20/60 so I might grab another set of 22/58 and go from there.

Yep, a bad exhaust leak is most likely the cause of your tuning problems. I had a issue with my 3.3 just like yours, but it was the throttle sticking after a WOT, and guess what? It was a bad air leak. If your exhaust has a leak, the engine can't get enough back pressure to run well, and that explains your "lean shudders" or stalling.

It was a bad leak too. Im thinking about putting in the new picco .21 I have laying around but I dont see the point in all that effort just to go from .20 to .21 lol
