Ofna Fuel tank mod questions

Hello:
Maybe i am going to make the "ofna fuel tank mod" and i have some questions:

Those are the parts i need, right?:
tank ofna part #40109
bellcrank posts part #4944.
Where I put the tank? I already removed the battery box
If i need make holes, please, give me the measures.
Is a noticeable difference between the stock tank and the ofna tank? I know the ofna tank fix the "half tank problem", but really help with that problem?

Put the tank where the battery box is. Use the existing rear hole from the battery box for the rear mount of the tank then just eyeball up where the front hole needs to go, mark it then drill. It's really easy to do and hard to screw up. The ofna tank does help with the half lean issue, though it doesn't fix it completly. I can't think of a way the ofna tank isn't better than stock, holds more fuel, built in fuel filter, adjustable breather nipple, drain pipe for spilt fuel. Looks like you have all of the correct part numbers too, just make sure you put a small piece of fuel tube or o ring in between the post and frame and post and tank to give it some cushion.

I hate to thread jack but I do not want to make a whole new thread on the same subject.

have a Ofna tank that came in a box of parts I got with 3 tmaxx trucks.
Is there a noticeable difference with the ofna tank?
Is it worth the time and effort?
I have noticed my tmaxx doesnt hold a tune to well and never even thought of it being caused by the tank.
but after finding the ofna tank and googling it I see it might be helpful.

Attach the posts to the tank and measure the distance between them or attach 1 post to the rear battery box hole and then mark the other to drill the hole.
(The tank installs so that the fuel pickup is to the rear of the truck, the offset will be toward the transmission)

The part numbers are both correct.
40109 is the ofna violator 150cc tank and Traxxas 4944 are the Tmaxx steering posts. Your ready to go!

i didnt like how it overhung the edge of the chassis so if your willing to drill 2 holes you can get it to hug the trans and not overhang the edge.

What would be the better place for a hump pack?
Im think either the front shock tower or the area where the servo would go for reverse.
I see both done but Im trying to pick the safest spot as all i do is bash.

Thats what I did too. Hopefully it holds up to the landings.

Im just about to start marking and drilling for the ofna tank. I was going to keep both tanks but I already go through to much nitro so having 2 tanks probably wouldnt be a good idea.
I do need to find some spacers because the ofna tank already has posts on it but I want to bring it in as close to the tranny as possible so the tank doesnt over hang the chassis.

Just depends on which you prefer, on my maxx it's zip tied next to the steering servo, on my wifes maxx w/reverse it's zip tied to the front shock tower.

Just my 0.02C but it doesn't hang over enough to fuss over.

Got my ofna tank installed late last night.
I like how it looks now. Nice and clean.
I put pull start in and junked the ezstart plus the new tank and battery move has made it look a lot less cluttered.
Not that I care about it being cluttered. At least adjusting the slipper will be a little easier with the stock tank out of the way.
As soon as I find my mem card I will post some pics.

I like the OFNA tank AND having pull start for the simple reason of better air flow to the engine, yet alone all the other benefits.....

Here's my setup on one of my Predators As you can see there isn't much blocking air flow to the engine with the fuel tank moved and the EZ start gone...

That's it, looks good DBG! Make sure you put a piece of fuel tube between the post and chassis and post and tank for a bit of cushion.

I dont use any fuel tubing/o-rings with the ofna tank and have no issues with it.

I cut a short piece of fuel tube (From tank to carburator) but the stock fuel tube is longer than the red one. When I make the pinch test, the time to wait is the same (2-3 sec, right?)? Or I need to wait less because the length of the new tube?

The length of the fuel line or where you pinch it does not matter. More important is to be sure you completely pinch it closed asap after a high speed run. I prefer a pinch of a long 3, or short 4 seconds

Since I made the fuel tank mod, There was a space where was the old tank so I wanted to put something there...I moved the receiver box position and now is where was the old fuel tank





There is the antenna :



Also I moved the throttle/brake servo and remove my remote start system for make it a bit more lighter and compact (more info about my remote start system here: http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...x-remote-start ) And I made a hole to the body for better cooling to the engine:

May I ask what the T-Maxx Bell crank posts are for exactly? DO you use them to attach the tank to chasis as it looked in last picture I seen? If so could I use some older ones I have in my Parts pile? I am seriously thinking of doing this too.

Sweet my Online Parts Dude at Hopmeup has one of these for $10.63 To bad I just made a $40 order or i could of added this and only had to pay .20 for shipping. will have to wait a week I am sure I will need some more gooods in a week.
ya know this Hobby is really starting to add up, I keep selling my Audio stuff Guitars ,amps, mixers, mics etc so I can buy more T-Maxx goods lol. SO darn fun this is I can only imagine what it woyld be like in the snow (yes I am all Water proofed well except for the Air intake will have to build something for that.

The bell crank posts are for attach the fuel tank to the chassis...You can use other bell cranks posts but you need to see if the bell crank post are long enough for attach the fuel tank to the chassis...I suggest you to use the traxxas ones: Part #4944
