Old stampede

Today my friend/coworker pulled his old nitro stampede out of his basement with renewed intrest from my new summit. It hasnt been run in about 10 years. I don't know nitro so i couldn't help him. Everything looks good and the linkages are free.
1. Can he use his old fuel that he has or is it junk.
2. Is there anything major he should look at and make sure is good before running it or trying to run it.

the fuel is crap if it is that old well at least most fuel goes out in about a year
but i have onwed a broke nitro for three days so what do i know

Yeah dump the fuel its to old.

If the fuel was properly stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, it was sealed, etc. it might be fine. Or it might not be. I have some pretty old Traxxas 33% Top Fuel that is 4 years old now, and it hasn't given me any problems. But it was stored about as well as you could possibly store it.

Make sure the AA batteries that power the radio and the on-board electronics are fresh.

Then we'll try the fuel because it was stored in the basement right next to the truck and was all the mentioned things above and if it's bad he's not out anything. Thanks for the info.

A new plug and clean air filter is a good idea as well.
