You can spin the flywheel with your finger, with a glow plug in, it should feel tight when the piston gets to the top. If you have apart, the piston should stop before the top. Tore my buddys 3.3 down the other day and could push the piston 1/4 way out of the top of the sleeve. That is bad, the p/s both look good, just no pinch left.

+1 with a cold engine and the glowplug in turn the flywheel counterclockwise as the piston reaches the top you should feel a good deal of resistance, if not the piston and sleeves are worn and need replacing...

oh okay yeah because i can defanetly tell theres compression! but the guy told me it was blown/overheated. i new the guy and i could tell that all he does is try and go as lean as posible for the most power... so i dont know maybe there is somthing wrong with it. i guess just trying to start it is another way of figuring it out :P

Yea it may lose a lot of compression when it gets up to operating temps then die and not want to start back

You can always pull it apart for a looksee, it's not hard to do.

If it still has good pinch, P&S isn't burned black, I would put it back together & run it.

For the cost of a P&S might as well get a brand new engine & be done with it.

Yeah the piston isn't black and there's still compression so maybe it isn't done after all! I'll try and run it!
