    Ken Block v2.0 Rebuild thread.

Decided to do something a bit different with my Ken Block on this build. With the recent release of the Proline Camaro '11 for these cars I knew what shell I was starting with.
Then it was just a matter of what I wanted to do.

    I bought 2 shells.

One will be determined later on as far as how it is going to be painted. My painter gets artistic freedom on that one lol.

The 2nd one, will get pained up 5-0 style. Complete with working Light-bar.
It is going to be the chassis Black and White cop car look, white hood, roof and doors. Black everywhere else.
Something along these lines, but the hood or at least the cowl section of the hood will be white as well.

And aside from the stuff I cant change the color on just yet, or haven't received the parts to do so, I mean everywhere. Although I may leave the Green links, just because they actually look really cool against a solid black chassis.

Changed over to RPM axle carriers as well.
Rear differential is locked with the traxxas lockers.

Did the tear down and clean up today, after getting everything dyed yesterday. Changed out a lot of parts for new, left me with a nice bag of spares (which knowing me will undoubtedly end up as a MERV or something).

Light-bar is mocked up, I still need to decide where the switches are going to go, as well as the battery.
I also need to find a nice and small rocker switch to turn them on and off completely, which is the only thing I was really surprised about with this kit, there is no power button.
What I like about the kit is once everything is mounted it is independent of the chassis and 100% attached to the body, so no accidental wire breaks when popping the body off. (happened already with the roof light bar on my 1:10 Summit)

    Light-bar in action.

    More to come.

Little update. no camaro shell yet. my painter is in the process of moving so i may or may not get the shell right away. but thats ok, he doesnt charge me for the paint jobs so im not gonna rush him.

saw someone else do it so as soon as i was able to get my hands on a new kb shell i decided to pull the decals from this one that has seen better days. i love the clean look.

i also added in a plug to power the light bar instead of adding a battery which would surely work loose and come flying out. Did this while changing over to a spektrum rx to run with my dx3c.
    can you find it?

new tires are mounted. omg wow these were tough to get on there.
given how tight they are do these need the full glue bead as well?

I don't know how I'm going to get 4 dots on each side let alone a full bead. lol

Body is back finally. Not the Classic black and white i was hoping for, but i don't pay for his work, i just replace materials used.
I have a 2nd body i can get a Black and White done on if i really want it.

I currently have the lights set up so that i can either run off the ESC or direct of a 9v.

Decided to change this up a bit, placed an order tonight from LiquidRC for some RED body HR shocks. (love them on my MERV) gonna try them on here as well. I think im going to remove the Locked rear diff as well. This setup just isnt "proper" stable for drifting. I think going rally style is better for it. Even on the bare concrete in the basement it just doesn't want to drift properly.

Also ordered some RED dress up parts (shock mounts/motor mount) from the LHS.

    Pics of progress to come

Here is my starting point. RPM carriers, Traxxas motor fins Hitec 85mg servo. Stock otherwise
Tires/wheels are HPI something or others, totally messed up the glue on them (used thin for some reason, ran everywhere)

    w/camaroRS

    w/stripped KB shell

*** I'm still on the lookout for a NIP KB shell if anyone catches wind of one.

Got some of my parts today and installed them. this GH "Red" stuff sure doesn't look very RED to me.

Also got a differential repacked to swap in once i decide to do it. Then i will take the lockers out of that one and repack and install up front as it was a new diff all together so I'll just have to drop the inner parts in and fill.

Just a pic, nothing new as of yet. Playing around with turning my workbench into an occasional photobooth.

how did you get the centers on the KB wheels chrome?

BTW...too bad you aren't closer...one of the shops here has a NIB KB body on the shelf.

They are stock traxxas rims. forget the part #. Picked them up premounted like that from Amain Hobbies.
Not sure if they were stock trim on any of the 1/16 cars or not.

Got my Center drive shafts installed today.
Hoping they hold up fine, have to be better than the stock center shafts. I have lost count how many ears on the yokes i have blown on my 1/16 scale rigs through the last couple years.

Dang! thats a sick looking body.

Speaking of bodies i finally got word today from ly LHS that they have been advised the KB prepainted/decalled body is discontinued. Dont know why that took so long lol.
