    mip cvd weight ?

how is the weight of the mip's. i was talking to the lhs and they talked me out of them and they had them there to sell me...he handed a set to me and they did seem pretty heavy. i just put in the 2400kv combo and i can see a little twist in one of my rear drive shafts already only after 2 packs. so i guess my question would be does putting in the mips add strain to anywhere else do to the weight? thks

yes they are heavy, but they are worth it, also if you have a big power plant to move the truck that's nothing.

x2, I have them on my son's p4de, which is basically the same design. No more broken plastic, got tired of replacing stock rear ones.

I would just buy the rears, that's what I did. Still running the stock fronts with virtually no wear. The back end is wear all the torque is being put down. Save ya half the weight and $$?

If you are concerned about additional weight, the Teknos are the way to go. Also, they have 6mm axles instead of 5mm, so that's an improvement. Unfortunately, this requires use of the carriers that are included in the kit, or purchase of a non-standard bearing to be able to keep the Traxxas carriers.
If running the Velineon system on 3S or other more powerful motor systems, use of the Tekno aluminum hexes or their excellent 17mm adapters is mandatory. Yes, this gets expensive rather quickly.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

i have the teknos and the mmp 2400 pushing them, no issues as of yet... i also converted the front bearings to smaller diameter ones so i could run aluminum hub carriers and steering blocks from traxxas.. the tecknos plastic ones dont last, you tap anything at a high rate of speed ... youll snap them in no time... i did twice

hope you can see them.... i also got the tekno locking aluminum hex drive"s cause the plastic ones they sent along with the kit rounded off after just a few runs ...... so i'd also get the tekno locking aluminum hex drive"s....

    hope all this helps you....

thanks for the compliment.... as far as changing anything out for the mip's im not sure on that......

i will tell you a down side to teknos's thou... you need to drop your ride height... otherwise you'll be popping drive shafts out ... they tend to pop out at any amount of high jumps with out lowering your suspension... hope this also helps.... but i enjoy mine

no mods needed they are 100% compatible with the other parts, just remove the plastic shaft, and replace.

o man thats a good deal. i got a full set yesterday and it cost me far more then that lol. i love them so far. i noticed that my truck handles far better aswell. specialy at higher speeds. seems as though the extra weight that the mips add lowers the center of gravity and keeps the truck alot more stable. i also swapped out the shock oil to 55w in the front and 60 in the back. not sure let if its going to be to heavy of fluid but i dont like the slapping of the chassis on the ground after landing big jumps.

I have a question about the tekno 17mm shafts.. Does that allow you to run buggy/truggy tires? Or do you still need an adapter?

I got my MIP's today and installed them. I was confused when I tried to put the aka 17mm adapters back on but there was no hole for the pin in the axle. The axle is keyed.

The MIPs come with a spacer that appears to go between the bearings in the hub carriers. Do the bearing just pop out out the carrier to install the spacer?

The AKA's come with hexes that tighten down on the 12mm axle threads.

I read that some people were using these where the axles meet the differential instead of the MIP supplied set screws. Do you think there is a need for this item. It would appear to be stronger since the pin is going through the stub of the differential.

i havent seen those, i havent had a problem with my mips in that department but i have been having problems with the hexes. i switched to the old style with the pin and been running strc hexes without any probs as of late.
