    Brushed motor

I have a question. Me and my GF are getting her daughter a brushed RC for her birthday, its not a traxxas as I dont think she is really ready for one of them but its not a wal mart special either. We are wondering if you need to do some sort of break in on a brushed motor?

You can't ask questions about non-traxxas vehicle... You can only ask about brushed motors if they are in your traxxas truck or bought to be put in one.

BUT, you can search the forum for break-in procedures.

Get a Traxxas. Tougher and better parts availability. Do not buy Hobbytown's Helion brand or similar. I did and was sorry very soon after.

When you say "not ready for one of them" Traxxas has already heard that and addressed it. They have a training mode which is 50% power which is exactly the right speed for a young beginner.

All brush motors need a break in. After doing a break in you can easily run the motor.

I just got my 7 yr old daughter into this and have her in "training" mode. It makes it much more fun for her. I try to take my kids to the track for practice sessions when I know there won't be many people there so she doesn't **** off the hard core guys by going so slow. I keep asking her if she's ready for me to take it off training mode and she keeps telling me no. Its on'y been a month.

Getting a Traxxas vehicle is the best way to introduce a young child to this hobby! And start with 2WD. It will make them better drivers.
