    Burning smell

I haven't used my emaxx in about 18 months but i decided to run it yesterday. I used two new 3s lipos and a took it for a test run after just 3 minutes i started to smell something burning it was a horrible smell like when roads are freshly paved. It seemed to be coming from the slipper clutch. so my ? is what is the best way to set the slipper? its been awhile since i have tinkered with this thing and i can't remember?

Probably is the slipper. I had same thing happen to my on my stampede. Take off gray cover on other side of motor and check it out there. There is a nut to tighten/loosen the slipper.

If it was the slipper causing the odour, the spur gear will be melted and no longer any good. When tearing apart for inspection, be sure to check the bearing condition also. I am pretty hard on my truck and have gone through a couple slipper units myself. The pads and disc are pretty cheap and it is a pretty easy repair. hope this helps ya abit.

the spur dosnt look melted. But i prolly only ran it for maybe a few seconds cause when i couldnt make it wheelie with 6s i knew somthing was wrong but i will take off the spur and check the bearing and the pads. I hope its not my castle motor? i could tell for sure that the smell was not coming from the esc so it was the motor or the slipper.

Crank it down tight then back off a quarter turn. That's always a good start point for slippers with brushless motors.

Check the clutch plate as well. If its glazed over either flip it over so fresh side is against the pads, rough up the old plate with some emery cloth to remove glaze, or buy new plate.

Just disassembled the slipper and yea the pads were burnt up and crumbly deff where the smell is coming from. I cant tell if the clutch plate is glazed but i think im gonna get one of these and do what it says in that link ^
