It has to be a consensus for upgrading one's truck!

What is your question? Maybe I missed it but you didn't ask one... You more or less made a statement...

I will be doing this too. I am slowly accumulating parts for my build..... can't wait! Do you have any specific plans for the build?

What are good big wheel choices, body choices, and other part choices like gearing or something for a traxxas slash 4x4 monster truck or a dessert Truck sort of thing?

That's my question sorry for being stupid and just saying: I want to...

go with 3.8 trenchers on bead locks, any body works really (as long as its not a 1/16th body), i would also get a protrac suspension kit, led lights, a mamba monster esc and motor

3.8's grip nearly anything, and the body depends on what the rc owner is into, im personally into dodges so i got the MacCachren dodge ram body

3.8 is a ridiculous size to even think about putting on a slash! Here are some custom made 2.8 tires I cut to fit 3.2 wheels. Gives you a mt size combo the same size a 2.8 would be bit with 17mm hex and huge rims that loom trick +the 100% offset to bring the whole mt truck look and feel to life

here's what has worked for me and why....

    1. MIP or FLM or Tekno cvd kits...why? because the yokes tend to stretch and get twisted. whether you run 2.8 pre-mount trechers, or 2.8 tires on 3.2 wheels, or even go truggy size, imo, the conversion is absolutely necessary.

    2. if you run 17mm wheels, you will need wheel adapters. FLM imo are the best. if you get the tekno cvds, get the tekno wheel adapters if you plan to run 17mm wheels.

    3. the velineon will run hot unless you're running a 9t pinion. i recommend the mamba max pro sct combo with the 2400kv motor. i also like the mamba max pro with the HPI 2650kv flux motor.(this is the HPI equilivent to the castle 2650...castle even makes it)

    4. RPM arms all around

    5. Front and rear sway bar kits to prevent body roll

    6. big bore or proline powerstroke shocks for big jumps

    7. I converted mine to a truggy, so i used a revo wing and wing mount and an ofna 10tt body.

    hope that helps!

VXLRocket, is the thick fin on the HPI 2650kv motor a fit problem for either slash/stampede 4x4?
    Thanks
