Just installed Traxxas motor mount 6860X

    Hi all,

I just installed part number 6860X in my Slash with 6890X and now the top mounting screw which secures 6890X (the one where you slide to adjust the gear mesh) is too short. Did I accident;y throw out the shorter screw or do I need to find one in my parts box.

I'll throw up a pic in an hour or so.

    Thanks!

The screw is as deep as I can get it and there is still 4mm of thread hanging out.

Its most likely just the photo, the car is brand new and never been run yet.

if it is a standard traxxas mount i would of thought the screw would of fitted. in your case you could shim the screw or just cut it down.

I had the same problem, I had to go to the local hardware store and get a shorter screw.

Ahhhh, how pristine. A virgin gear set w that cool plastic cover. It looks like showroom quality! Mine looks like its fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down! I love the brand new look. Anyway, I would have thought the original screw would have fit??? Triple check everything before you grind it down.

yes it is too long i had this prob too when i changed mine to the traxxas aluminum mount. The stock screw is to long because it goes into to the old mount and then threads into a 3mm set nut several mms into the mount never threading into the mount itself. On the aluminum mount the screw threads directly into the mount not needing the extra length.

Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like I'll have to go through my parts box and find a different screw.

Yes, I know it's waaay too clean. I plan on changing that as on Monday. I got the car as an early birthday present on the condition that I didn't drive it. That hasn't stopped me making a few mods to it! I'll do a review thread after I've had a bash of the car, I'm keen as **** to get it going!!

That's strange. I have the same parts 6860x and 6890x in my truck and had no problems with the stock screw.

    Neither did I.
Maybe Traxxas has shortened the screw in the meantime...
