Take a look at SPC. fantastic lipos and decently priced. more $$ than the Chinese ones, but they come with warranty and customer service

Can't beat the SPC lipos. If you want long run times, check out the 8200s. I get 40-60 minutes of bashing time with them in my ERBE.
More if I am not killing the throttle all the time.

As for your original question, yes, Sky Lipos work very well. They only come with banana connectors. Be prepared to solder your own if you go that route.

which ever batts, get at least a 5000 mAh 30 or 40C

This is a good start..Just don't buy no name Ebay batts...

    MY BATTS:
    2S 9000 x 28C = 252,000 didide 1000 = 252 amps
    2S 8000 x 28C = 224,000 divide 1000 = 224 amps
    3S 5200 x 40C = 208,000 divide 1000 = 208 amps
    2S 4700 x 25C = 117,500 divide 1000 = 117.5 amps
^ I use in my Summit..... or Requires proper gearing^

    ( mah x c rating / 1000 = amps),

The more amps the better / minimun of 120 amps.

The ESC will only draw the amount of amps it needs.

Higher the mAh the longer the runtime.
For brushless systems 8000 mAh about 45 min & a 5000 mAh about 30 min.
Times are longer for brushed systems.

Batts in series double the voltage:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 4s 20c 5000mah

Batts in parallel double the mah capacity:
    2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 2s 20c 10,000mah.

Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
    Everything warm just right..

Motor ~ 180/190*F maximum, ideally 140/160*F, temps can be 10* higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F
    Lipo's ~ 140*F max, ideally 100/120*F

Besure to check sizing before you buy any batteries...

In time some batteries will become discontinued...

No particular order as to good, better, or best....

With larger Lipo battery wires, you might need to - enlarge the exit hole on battery doors....
or run wires out the vents..

on someones thread i read that for bashing anything more than a 25c would be pointless, is that true"?

That is a little misleading. What is accurate is that the creators of the the MMM esc advised that we use the strongest cells we can find. The issue is when you gear too high and push the batteries beyond their capabilities. The MMM needs 125 amps constant. It can burst much higher than that though. Personally i drive like a maniac so i am sure I require a burst at over 125 amps.

The strongest cells are Traxxas, SPC, **********, Hyperion, Thunder Power, Gens Ace. The traxxas are a "True" 25c. A 5000mah 25c battery can handle 125 amps all day.
Its All relative to your perspective.

    It's not pointless...up to a certain point.

There is nothing wrong with getting a 30-50c battery for bashing. If the motor never demands more than 25-30c, then the batteries will operate at the lower end of their design range. In other words, you will not be stressing the batteries very much, so you should get an excellent service life out of them.

Many good 30-50c batteries aren't much more expensive (if at all) than other 25-35c batteries that work well. So they make a reasonable choice to consider.

Well, if 30 is good, 60 must be better, right? If the price and quality is the same, yes. But typically batteries above 50-60c charge a premium price.

You will not get any added benefit from the additional cost rating, so the additional cost is not necessary.
