Do not get the axial 8017 unless you plan on getting at least 16mm hub extensions I just got mine on last week and the inner bead lock ring rubs on the a-arm extremely bad. Stock wheels are 1/2" offset. Axial 8017 have no offset

Someone mentioned that most of those "Axial" wheels for the Roc Lok 4.0 are all discontinued....
So I'm looking for Wheels that are $60 or less. I'm not into competition, just plain bashing and rock crawling fun.

I just cant see myself spending over $100 for Wheels on that RC4WD website (embarrassed).

    Anyother wheels out there?

the narrow version of the axials are discontinued, thats what you need. throw ya a bone though, search ebay for axial rockster 40 series and theres a set with extra bead lock rings for a great price.

Why can't there be any chrome ones!?!?!!

    Recap what I'm hearing:
    These don't work: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=83854192559
    Unless you add 16mm extension?

    Will these work?

    Correct godspeed.
The 8017 need to sit out further. About a half inch but 16mm is the closest Ive found to 12.5mm + some leeway.
As for the other wheels I'm not sure. I would call axial. If I bought mine from them I would have called them b4 I ordered. If the say they fit and didnt I would be getting a refund. And my broken parts fixed by them.

I have the axial 8017 with mud slingers and have not got my extensions yet so I can not tell the rok loks should bolt up to any 40 series wheel. As for rubbing you may want to look at the 18mm extensions.

    From the RC4WD website.

"Note: This tire will only fit RC4WD wheel such as Z-W0010, Z-W0007 or other manufacturer 40 series specific narrow wheels (Such as Proline 40 Series Cheyenne Narrow Wheel Part # 2683-01). For Traxxas summit owner, get Axial wheel part # AX8017."

....ok, am a newb here (embarrassed)....

for regular Wheels (non Narrow), Summit owners must use 16mm wheel extenders? (Link?).

RC4WD.com had wheels for $150 + for Roc Lok 4.0?? I cant spend that much on Wheels fellas

    confused:-)

I will try ebay or buy one thats new if other users don't need theres'.....

The other issue with rims that arent narrow is that the side wall is pushed out by the rim. This is why rc4wd states you need narrows, you can put the tires on other rims but that doesnt mean they fit.

I wished I had a camera to show what Roc Locs look like on Axial oversized beadlocks. My son uses them when he wants to crawl. They stand 8.5 inches tall and the tread and outer rim ring are parallel so Rocksters would be better. I have Rocksters on my Summit with Rc4wd's Baja Claws. I run the tread backwards for better traction. Roc locs do work well in loose terrain as well if not better then the baja Claws. Ebay is ur best source for discontinued parts. Good luck.

I just found these black 40 series rockster narrows on eBay with the optional skull pattern beadlock rings in purple. Brand new for $70 shipped. I have been looking for the wheels for a while and grabbed them as soon as I saw them. Not a bad deal considering those rings were 20 a pair brand new when they made them. Purple wouldn't have been my first choice but they are unique and bling. Now to decide, roc loc or rock crusher....

    Nice find SwampThing.

if you see another set thats "used" and more of a discount, please let me know.
The Roc Lok 4.0 tires are going to be useless if I don't find "direct fit, no rubbing" wheels

Ya I was excited to find them! I will keep an eye out for you. A week ago there was a set including rock crushers but one of the hex hubs was rounded out on one of the wheels. I almost got them with a plan in my head to fix the wheel but decided to pass...

The crushers do not hook well in the wet and they are quite tall as well.makes the trucks COG quite tall
So steep climbing suffers a fair bit
    The locs are even taller

^^thanks for the info, around here it is mostly flat so the height will be good for the grass. Realistically rock crawling will be minimal and it will mostly be running around the golf course which is grass or sand. I love my MERV on the course, hoping to have as much gun with the Summit there too.

My son runs the Roc Locs when crawling and keeps the a arms level with the ground. Still has good ground clearance.

    These things are giants!

I have also decided not to use the purple lock rings and have acquired 4 more standard rings which should be arriving this week.
