What's needed to convert to 32p

Hey guys I'm putting in a 2650kv ********* in a rustler and all my gears are 32p what slipper and do I need? I want a heavy duty one, I bought a 1/10 revo set up it does not fit.

Also I know it would be good to get a aluminum tranny case any suggestions on a cheap one?

Wow! I was actually just starting to look at converting to a 32p gear too.

From what I have been reading, Jato gears (which are .8 mod) work well, and they apparently work with 32p pinions. And my suggestion with the tranny case is to just buy the FLM. It's a little more expensive but it is quite amazing. Temps drop like a rock because it acts like a huge heat sink.

Looking at the golden horizon one on eBay.... Maybe someone will chime in.

I have jato spur gears I need all of the slipper. I bought the revo complete setup from a chop shop on the bay but it does not fit. Also I do not have a stock rustler slipper so I don't know if its a matter of just screwing on a jato spur or not want to know before I order the rustler slipper

Also do I have to dremel the aluminum cases to fit this monster motor? I dremeled plastic just to see if I like it or not....

You don't need to dremel the aluminum casing. But, you will need to dremel the chassis for the tranny to fit. And your best bet with the slipper clutch is to probably get a new one, and then put a jato spur onto it.

Going the cheaper route. Flm by reviews is great, an the integy is about the company's only good part..

I'm thinking this, it appears to just be a plate where motor bolts on.

a rustler or slash slipper will work. Mod .8 is the same as 32p gear's so you can use 32p pinion's with the mod .8 spur. Does the motor have a 5mm or 3mm shaft? You may need to buy new pinion's if you don't have any 5mm bore pinion's.

DON'T BUY THE GOLDEN HORIZONS ONE!!! Seriously, we've jut had a long thread about it having a major internal defect. The manufacturer has known about it since May and still sells it.

The Integy ones are actually supposed to be good and they do make an open plate design one which would work well for larger motors.

Well if you look through all of those pictures on that forum post its the blue one i have the silver one and have no problems ive heard it was the anodizing that does it

I have the silver GH transmission case and I had the exact same problem as the other posters did. I had to use my dremel to get the bearings to sit flush. I would not get another GH transmission case.

You need to realize that with every product, there will be good experiences and bad experiences. Unfortunate that many have had bads with the GH gearbox. But mine in silver is great and is showing no signs of the problems from that thread. Dont count out a product from a few bad reviews.... People are now really just bringing it to light on the threads. Im sure there are plenty with the gearbox that are still using it with 0 issues.

Deff not hating on GH box I just don't want to risk getting a no good one. And taking a risk on an integy.

If you decide to go that route, get one Jato spur TRA3956, and one matching pinion TRA3944 or TRA3945 (14 and 15t pinions).

And pitch the spur gear cover because you won't need it anymore and it won't fit anyway.

I absolutly LOVE my 32P gears. And ya, I use the REvo gears, on the normal slipper. Why didnt they fit for you?

32P pinions are pricey, BUT... SO much better to take off, and tighten. Also, for them, it uses 5/63 or so size of standard size hex tool. I got a set of standard hex tools for pinions and its helped ALOOOT to not strip em out.



Make sure when u are tightening your gears, that u dont use the paper method, like the 48P gears or u will dramatically reduce ur speeds, and might fry ur motor. The way I adjust my gear mesh, is by feel. Make sure it feels smooth, and flows smoothly, if u set the pinion, and its not free flowing, its too tight. Back it off, until it flows smooth.

But I am using the regular Traxxas 32P in all kinds of diff sizes, and I got a ton of pinons to go along with it.

Big ol 5mm shafts are awesome. Except im waiting for some 34T spur, and some larger 25ish pinions to arrive



Btw.... the one in this pic, is a Traxxas 36T spur, mounting on Traxxas slipper.

Problem was the roller I got had no slipper so I was unsure of what skipper was needed to run 32p gears... All my revo gears fit the new rustler slipper I just got in mail today waiting on tranny case.....

Never messed with a MMM. The ********* motor is great! The 150amp esc is huge but I have had zero issues with it on 6s. The program card is a must .I can use system to crawl in my summit or throw it in my slash 4x4 for speed runs. But know I'm all addicted to this rustler vxl!
I am sure the MMM is way more powerful I will invest in one someday but for know this 120 dollar system is grrrrrrreat.
