Sledgehammer: Replacment of Stubaxels and Half-shafts

    Hello All

I have been trying to search in the forum, but didn't find the answer to my question.

I have an Old Sledgehammer which have been stored in a box for a long time. Now when my kids are growing up did I thought that the car could be reused. It is just that I'm sick of replacing the Half-shafts (#1651) and the stub-axles(#1853) more or less after each day.

Is there a more robust retrofit / exchange of these parts?

    Best Regards
    /Per Carlin

i finally did the n-pede diff swap w/ 48p gears and im very happy, as an added perk im using the steel outdrive yolks and vxl shafts/spindles and i havent had ANY issues with the driveline. everything spins free and no snapped or thrown axles.

so confident in the driveline, im thinking of going to a castle 2400 4-pole/sv2 setup here soon too!

    48p diff/top gear set is #1788

    output yolks

    diff case

    gears

i should add that i went to much wider arms w/ srt rear hub carries and again, vxl stub axles. i think nitro hawk arms (f/r respectively) would be the ticket there.

my car is a cobbled together mess so not everything is applicable and how far you want to go with mods is up to you.

Ok, the change if differential have I made earlier to make the maintenance easier.

    What do you think of:

    6828 - Output Yokes - Heavy Duty
6850 - Half shafts - Heavy Duty, are most likely to long but can be cut down to right measurement
6853 - Stub Axel - Heavy Duty, Is to short I have to get new wheels which fit the Axel
3752 - Stub Axel carrier, as the original 1652 do not have enough space for the 6853.

Have I missed something, will the pieces fit?

the issue with wheels is offset. only contemporary ones i can think of off hand are the rpm wide offset 2.2 crawler rims but they only come with 12mm hexes (meaning, if you wanted matching front to rear you would need stampede front knuckles) as long as they arent brittle i would stick with the stock rear hub carriers, they have a ton of offset.
