You bet it is! I use mine on a regular basis not only for RC's but small engines, autos, woodworking, household stuff, etc.
Even had issues with it and they replaced the power board and motor for free under their warranty with a turn-around time of 3 business days (from my house -> Dremel -> my house). And gave me an accessory for my inconvenience.

You know your dremel is a useful tool when you burn it up.

Definitely get a corded one. Would really stink to be halfway through a project and then have to stop and recharge. And the batts probably don't last too long. I'm guessing its somewhat like a cordless drill.
And yes they are used a TON. I used to use mine every day for a lot of different things but then it burned out and I now realize how nice it was to have one. They are extremely useful.

No actually not, get the new lithium model. The battery lasts for many uses. I like it much more than the corded model.
And yes they're very useful, you can polish up things, cut things, and drill holes in things haha.

How do you use it for bodies? Maybe to smooth the finished edge before painting?

I use the diamond cutting tip to cut the body close to the lines, takes about 5 minutes, then put the sanding drum on and finish it perfect to the lines/curves, another 10 minutes maybe. Need the corded for sure, even the lipo dremel doesn't really last that long if you are pushing hard.

Bought mine for the hobby and end up using it all the time. Used to to cut a seized bumper bolt on my ranger off so i could install a hitch. wouldn't of been able to do it without it.

A dremel is one of those tools you didnt know you needed SO bad until you get one. Then you think, how did I ever live without it. I have a 7.4 volt cordless one AND a corded one. The cordless is great for stuff you can't get to with a power source, but what has been said about the battery is true, it sucks when it goes dead in the middle of something and the power isnt really that good. But its handy, so having both is the answer for me.

I use my dremel more than any other tool I have besides my actual hex set.

I love my dremel. I picked it up for pinewood derby cars and have picked up so many accessories for it since. It's a must have for the house for sure! It's great for sanding bodies like the rest pointed out! Mine has cut down so many small trees lol!

I'll try this method next time I paint up a new lid.

I used a tiny wire brush attachment to clean paint chips on my car before touching them up. Worked great.

Problem with the battery operated unit is that the produce a lot more heat. And will shut itself off after a certain point. I have both and I use the corded 99% of the time and use the lithium when I am out and about. I bought the lithium first. Plus the corded operates with more torque while the lithium uses more speed. At least that's how I feel it

That is true, it has an auto shut off, which has saved the tool more than once. But for the standard RC jobs I've done I haven't had a problem with that feature.

I got the cheapest dremel available at harbor freight tools. It gets the job done and is more important to me than shock oil.

Probably one of the best tools I own. I used one to cut a chassis out of steel to make my six-wheeled E-Maxx and my custom two foot long aluminum chassis for my nitro dragster. I buy my cutoff wheels in bulk.....the blade sharpening attatchment is also very useful. Keeps my mower and yard tools razor sharp.

I never knew how badly I needed one until AFTER I owned it....

Not just RC's either.... I've had lot's of times when that thing has gotten me out of a jam.... Had to replace baseboards, some had old nails I could not get out, the Dremel took easy care of it. Ever have to re-grout a bathroom? Best tool there is (can even get a special guide so you don't mess up).

Lot's of stuff a dremel can handle. And that 90 degree elbow you can put on it,,,, priceless!!!!!

Definitely one of the most used tools in my shop. Unfortunately, I was cheap and stupid when I bought my rotary tool from Harbor Freight. It's junk and has NO torque at all. Even though it's so weak... I still use it all the time. Definitely buy quality... you'll use it all the time and regret buying a piece of junk.
