On my slayer the slide only opens up to about 75% of the way open. I don't know if that's normal or not, but my slayer's carb has done that since I got it new. If your carb body is cracked, it will lean out the fuel mixture and make it hard to tune with loss of power. I had a crack in my carb too... Your crack most likely won't be has bad, but, you just never know! Ps Welcome to the fourms!

The slide in the carb should open fully. You can adjust how far it opens by slightly changing the angle of the carb by rotating it slightly one way or the other. Also you can adjust the ball link a little to get it to open all the way. You just have to make sure that it pulls the slide open smoothly with no binding.

As far as your throttle being slower are you sure you didn't buy a weaker servo? Sometimes slower can also mean the throttle linkage is binding.

Make sure the carb springs closed to about a 1mm gap. I swapped the stock carb for a losi carb and I had to adjust the angle, ball link and some of the throttle linkage. As CarGuy7a stated: Make sure the slide opens and closed smoothly. I popped the linkage off the servo to test this. I also replaced the stock servo with the 7075 Throttle servo. The stock servo was struggling with the rear brake addition.
