    Veers off

My slash veers off to one side under full throttle. Otherwise it drives straight. Is this some kind of torque steer? Is there a remedy for this?

    NO not torque steer.
NO you don't need a gyro.

Torque steer is pronounced in front wheel drive vehicles not rear wheel drive.
A couple of thoughts, if you are getting all the push from only one rear wheel it will push the vehicle in the opposite direction, so test this out on something with limited traction. I you are hard on the throttle do both wheels spin together? If you are getting only one wheel driving then you have likely a problem in the differential, or you have a bind in the opposite side in a bearing or driveshaft.
If both wheels are spinning up then you likely have a tire that is separating from the wheel and growing in size which then will again push you in the opposite direction. First swap left and right tires/wheel combos on the rear and try your acceleration. If nothing changes try the same with the front wheels and see if anything changes. If a tire is growing off a wheel then it is taller and traveling further thus it is 'steering' your car in the opposite direction.

Be sure you have no broken suspension components, no disconnected links in steering or camber links. See that each wheel spins freely off the ground in the front. Hold one tire and turn the other on the rear to make sure the diff is not froze up, or a driveshaft is binding at the output.

I have three Slashes, all with plenty of power, they all accelerate in a straight line, there is something basic just not right on your rig. Also check to make sure your bellcrank posts have not pulled from the chasssis, you could also check your Servo Saver to make sure it is not loose or broken.

Very good advice from kwitty. Ballooning tires will really make the truck erratic under acceleration! Have had that on my truck before. Changed to better tires, and all better. Something in the diff or driveline should give a more consistent pull to one side under acceleration.

I had the same problem. I checked out my diff like kwitty said, the oil was almost completely gone. Installed some heavier oil and it stays straight now.

what kind of oil to use in the tranny and where to put it? i kinda have a similar pulling to one side. no binding and nothing broke and tires are ok. im thinking tranny. maybe needs oil or grease or what ever. is there a video or does someone know how to service the stock tranny? ive never pulled it apart so i want the know how before i try.

The stock diff has no fluid and will not retain fluid. Check out Dr Isotope's post on ultimate rc for a diy sealed diff or pick up a sealed diff or traxxas ball diff. If you stay with a geared sealed diff, try 100k weight oil and see how it performs.

    This is very helpful: http://traxxas.com/explodedviews/580...Qi-24GHz-radio
When splitting the halves there is one screw slightly shorter than the others, mark that location.
Pay special attention to the teflon washers there will be 4 of them that belong in here.
There is nothing tricky about the inside of the diff except to make sure you put the alignment pin back in between the two ouput shafts that center them.
Clean well, lubricated with a silicone grease. The diff is not sealed so no oil only grease!
If in doubt on any bearings just replace them! You can buy a new set of internal gears for about $6 in the diff.

I have confidence in you, go for it and let me know if you get stuck

Bad Horsie Diff grease is another option for tightening up the differential.

Are the front wheels on the ground while this is happening?

This is a pretty simple process. My advice is to just do it. If you have trouble with it, look at the exploded diagram, or take pictures of the disassembly and refer to them.
