    HobbiCo after run oil help/tips

So the directions on the HobbiCo oil itself and the after run maintenance in the Traxxas owner's manual somewhat differ. The manual says to use WD-40 in the opened carb and the cylinder head (or if using after run oil follow their directions). Well the HobbiCo oil only says to use it in the carb venturi (opened carb if I'm not mistaken?) but doesn't mention the cylinder. Do any of you guys use it and if so use it in both or just the carb?

    Thanks

I use ARO through an open carb and spin the engine to suck it through.

No it's fine to do that, I do when I have time. Although I'm sure it's not completely necessary, it makes me feel better knowing I just put oil directly on the piston haha.

I only drop ARO in the carb, because I don't want to wash any dirt in from around the glow plug. If your head is clean it won't hurt but if there is any dirt and you wash it down in the motor it could cause wear on the piston & sleeve. To me the only thing that need ARO is the crank, bearings and Con rod. I am sure just dropping it in the carb it gets on the piston and sleeve so you should not have to worry about taking the glow plug out.

Do you, after using ARO in the carb, spin the motor with or without the glow plug in then?

I usually put the ARO down the carb & glow p[lug hole then spin it over without the plug in it.
You must make sure to get the engine head very clean before doing it this way.

I do not like the Hobbico ARO, it gets gummy after sitting for a bit, I have been using JAC fuels brand & have liked it.
    Look out for the tree/crunch!

I use ARO only because I have other Nitro engines besides TRX engines, and they say no WD-40. This is because of the type of rubber o-rings used are not WD-40 friendly... TRX engines are fine with WD-40 and it's what Traxxas recommends in their manuals....

But I put a piece of fuel tubing on the end of my ARO bottle secure it with a zip tie. So when I've run my fuel empty I then loosen the glow plug, remove the fuel line and put the fuel tubing with the ARO bottle onto the fuel inlet. Give a light squeeze with the carb at WOT position and turn the engine over until I see some seeping out from under the glowplug.

This way no dirt can get in the engine, the ARO has been worked through the crankshaft and the internals fully. Starting up the next time around is not bad at all as long as you loosen the glowplug a little when you go to start it later.... But remember to tighten it back up before you go racing or bashing...

I use Hobbico ARO. It works! It even smells like bubble gum. Haha
