Ya your road one? I'm going to upgrade my slash 4x4 eventually once my own 2wd is done I put a castle creations sct race pro which has the mmp and 3800kv motor with 5mm shaft. Next is lipos... Or a stampede..... Or paint supplies and a clear body... The list goes on lol

So I'm sad now. Just realized that seller of my roller did not give me screws to mount the motor or the stock pinion. Just the optional spur n pinion. and vxl is here and one of mounting tabs for esc is broken off. Which I don't think was mentioned or pictured in the add. So not happy about that either. Sigh...........

You can use some 3M double sided tape to mount the esc instead.

ok, i think i will have to do so then. but no i didnt buy it new. i got it used for $90 from a member on here with the motor. should i still put a screw in it as well just in case the tape lets go? just light pressure or barely touching it? that way it will basically keep it from going flying off atleast and getting all messed up.

can you buy just a new case for an esc like you can a servo?

so got some shelves put up with the help of my brother. one side of my walk in closet then one out in my room. and i have some extra little scrap pieces to put up another one or two. the one in room is right above where my roll around tool box will be going when i bring it home thur. it will basically just be my rc shelf probably. its 4' long and 18" deep.

I would put a screw in so you don't have to worry when your driving it

will do, im a little less bumed about that part now lol. still need screws to hold motor on though as well as a pinion gear the right size. times like this when i wish i was still at college and had an awesome hobby shop with walls and walls of parts only a few minutes away lol

thanks, shes coming along very nicely i feel. so my mom told me today when i was at work that i had a package from florida. so when i got home and the body was waiting for me i didnt think anything of it when it was from florida. well my brother told me that the body had come via ups. but my mom never said if the package just came to the house or was sent through the post office. well a little while ago she left for work (third shift). and while i was next door she pulled a package out and set it on the steps. this one did come through the mail and was also from florida. pics tomorrow cus im going to sleep but i got my servo, controller, and my receiver in as well. so i gotta double check but i think the only thing left now is my charger

might have to make a drive and hit up a hobby store to get the few screws i need and pinion and double check on any other little things.

Yep. Buy one at a hobby store. They should be universal and the hobby store would carry them.

ok good, i plan to go to one tomorrow so ill take it with me to make sure.

all local hobby shops anywhere near me dont have the stock pinion i need or the few screws at some. but i found one thats about an hour away that im assuming must be doing pretty good because its open 7 days a week. if they dont have what i need i swear i will drive all the way down by my college to the hobby shop i used to go to. already called them and they have everything in stock. well dont know about charger because i didnt have it yet when i called them.

grave you can also take one of the charger lead wire and have them solder the traxxas plug.

i have an onyx charger with a speedpack 4500 nihm charges in 1 hr. 20 mins. better run time, faster top end.

yep i drove like an hour to go to a hobby shop that was good. i tried calling them and no answer yesterday. (turns out no answer cus there so busy) i had no clue what kind of stock they had or anything but there open 7 days a week so i figured they must not be to small. there actually about 1 month away from having 2x as big of space cus there expanding. they got an outdoor track there, and everything.

but anyway i got me some goodies to both finish my slash up and upgrade some.

45w shock oil
my motor mountin screws
some loctite
screw to hold servo horn on
48P 19T pinion from robinson racing
my connector to charge my batteries
and some progressive rate springs.


now i shall grab a bite to eat and then assemble

ok so i turn everything on, steering works fine but right after turn on it will try and take off like a bat from you know where (when i give it throttle, not by itself). at this point light on both receiver and esc are both green. within like 2 seconds throttle is just not there and esc goes to a slow red flash.

what does this mean? my manual is for an xl-5 not the velineon setup.....................

and theres a small red plug that comes off the esc with just a red and black wire as well as the one for the receiver. whats the red plug for exactly?

figured it out, car was in lipo mode, all is well now. might have to go take a test drive

ok, so i never used the stock shocks once before changing things. i put the springs i bought today on the truck and it kind of concerned me that they were all the same length unlike stock springs and about an inch longer than the stock front springs. now i had asked the guy which springs he recomended and this is what he gave me along with a bottle of 45W oil.

i dont have the oil in yet but with the mounts on lower arms all the way to the outside it doesnt handle to terribly bad. front seems kind of bouncy. i was thinking about using the stock rear springs in front and my springs in rear. any thoughts on this?

do nimh batteries get the same base charge rate as a lipo would? i have a 4500mah battery so that would get charged at 4.5A right?
