Learn throttle control especially when you start using lipos...its a pain running to flip your truck over all the time in the beginning. Other than that the E-revo is pretty durable straight out of the box

YES. If you want to avoid re-building your diff's, definitely.

No, there is no "real" need to shim the differential. There is no concrete problem if you dont shim it. On the other hand you "may" see some benefit in the long run. might.......if you dont mess it up shimming it.

Shimming is important, before that you need..
start with 2/2s lipo batts
